A friend on FB just updated that she put a fish from tesco in the oven and when she took it out and started eating she realised that it had not been gutted! Aren't they supposed to be gutted as soon as they are caught?

A friend was saying the other day that he gutted his first fish (supermarket bought) the other day so I guess not. I tend to only buy the stuffed ones from the fresh counter

Yuuuuck, there are SO many yuck things in the guts, they start rotting really fast and the toxins leak out. I wouldn't trust a fish that had its guts in for longer than 5 mins!
I don't eat fish anyway but if i did lol

I love fish. Fish such as mackerel, herring and trout are not gutted, but you can ask the fishmonger to do it for you if you're squeamish.
I have only once in a long history of preparing fish had a horrible experience - the fish's guts were full of horrible little white wriggly things! not maggots, God only knows what they were. The whole lot, fish and all, went straight into the bin!

Re: ewwwwwwwwww
Most of the fish me and hubby eat have been caught by my Dad, thankfully he knows how to do this
