Furballs??????
If Lily was a cat I would swear she has furballs. When she cleans herself she is hacking all the time like a choking noise and I sometimes think she is going to be sick . I have never noticed this with previous dogs I have had - does anyone else have any experience of this.

Re: Furballs??????
Dempsey doesn't really clean himself unless he has something disgusting on him that's worth him licking!

I know what you mean. She cleans her paws - could be she has stepped in something disgusting.

I don't think Lily could reach her lady area if she tried

Re: Furballs??????
Kuchar does make a sort of grunting noise (it's kinda cute actually) when he's licking at various bits of himself, but he doesn't actually yack.

Now I am wondering if she has got something wrong with her. I might ring the vet helpline attached to her insurance

Re: Furballs??????
I know it sounds a daft questions but could it be the collar digging in when she turns to clean herself? Chiquito often sounds like he is hacking a hairball due to collar strangulation issues, but that is about the only time I hear anything like that ....
