Re: New pony
Ah Hayley! (And I can see that the photo isn't of Goldie btw, the undercarriage gives it away )
I was concerned to see you say that you didn't "want another disaster" on your hands. Have I missed something along the way?

Re: New pony
Just that my last horse was bought as a very calm all rounder, turned into a total monster who i couldnt handle and i eventually nearly had a break down and i had to sell him on. His new owner had balls of steel and had him galloping about the place jumping fences and i was afraid to walk him at the end i was afraid to get on at all.
Not having much luck with this new bloody horse either.
I will have to see how things work out, but financially with this latest set back i might have to skip goldie

Re: New pony
Oh Hayley, I'm sorry I had no idea. Last I knew was that you had a biggish dark bay with a Kimblewick (and I'm sorry I can't remember his name), but you posted videos and photos of him and you and it seemed to me that you were fine together. Was that the "calm all rounder", or your "new bloody horse"?
No horse is worth having a breakdown over; they're not like dogs with overt affection (unfortunately), and it's often that horse and rider just don't get along with each other, for whatever reason, and then it's just best to part company and rehome the horse with someone who just "gels" with it better, as you have done. I had to do this with one of my own horses - he was an ex-racer and our life-styles just didn't fit together; he was just too much for me in short.
Please don't feel obliged to reply to this if I'm being too prying or overstepping the mark.
Won't mention Goldie just now.

Re: New pony
Ah OK! Glad I didn't offend/upset you.
Ex-racers, as you and I have discovered, are generally too hard-wired by their breeding and training to fit in well with a new role as a hobby horse. Kauto Star is showing promise as adapting to his new job as a dressage horse, but he's an exception - maybe due to his temperament, and maybe due to his high profile, and even he will need expert attention and training and shed-loads of expensive food! Most ex-racehorses end up at the abbatoir, unfortunately.
I'm glad to hear that you still have the bay; honestly last I saw you were getting on great with him.
And, you are a rider (and a good one) and need a horse to ride (the saddle problem on your other thread is a b****r, replied there). Goldie, if you do go for her, will be a pet cuddly pony which is great, but I feel that you still need a horse to ride.
Good luck! ><

Re: New pony
Here is goldie
She needs a bit of TLC but is SOO kind and sweet. I had a dream like idea in my head of going to her, her whickering and coming over and just loving fuss. When i got there, goldie whickered to me and came over and stood for cuddles!!! Im sold.

They don't all do it, but Ah, it's heartmelting when a pony or horse whickers in welcome to you. Goldie does look like a lovely little pony (you've tidied her quite a bit haven't you! )

Re: New pony
Ah, bless. So you don't get the foal as well, or the foal's foal.
Well, Goldie is a very pretty pony and sounds like she will be a perfect pet. She improved 500% after your 5 minute's grooming - you must have enough hair to stuff a mattress!
Love to Goldie and not forgetting Jago
PS Just seen your latest, so she was a glamour-puss as well! A dash of Arab there I suspect.
