Help !
Omg just tried to cut Diesels nails and ended up cutting too much off the furst one ! Bleeding like mad.
Held some tissue on it to stop it bleeding - Is there anything else I can or should put on it ?
And - what clippers do u use ? This is the 2nd time this had happened.

Re: Help !
The clippers i use have a circular hole and the blade is angled so that if used correctly there is less likelyhood of cutting too much. What is your method? One snip to get the whole nail or snip and snip little bits until you are happy?
He will lick it clean and stop the bleeding himself, just watch for infection.

Re: Help !
Same as Hayley I have clippers with round hole in the middle, I tend to just take a little bit at a time. My Mum did the same with our mini Dachs and rang vet in a panic, she said just hold it til stops bleeding it did eventually so don't panic too much

Re: Help !
The thing with the quick in there nails is once it stops bleeding it will recede a bit further up the nail! Bailey grinds his nails right down to practically nothing on his front paws for some reason! Sierra's don't need clipped as we do a fair bit of pavement walking so they've not needed cut thankfully lol!

Re: Help !
I little tip in case you do the same thing again - if the claw bleeds, dip it in flour. According to Eleanor, who learnt it from her animal management diploma, that stops the bleeding & seals the claw!

Re: Help !
You could also try a mens syptic pencil they use for shaving cuts, failing that some soap may work also just dabbed on the end of the nail.
