Aggressive 7 month old bitch
Right guys having a bit if trouble with my rescue bitch, she is around 7-8 months old and has been shut in a cubboard most of her life, she is a great girl at home, apart from her mouthing when she gets excited, she is really aggressive on walks, she is always on a lead, but when she spots another dog she goes all tense, doesn't listen and pulls, I have introduced her to numerous dogs on different occasions but always growls and snaps at every dog, has anyone got any ideas of what we can do to help her?

How long have you had her?
What have you done to try & stop the behaviour?

Sounds like it could be fear based if she has missed out of lots due to being shut away.

Re: Aggressive 7 month old bitch
Had her a few days I know it is early days but don't want her to hate other doggies, we have walked about with others around the park to get her used to being near another dog but when we stop and introduce she snarls, and snaps. I have tried the firm no, telling her to sit and wait and walking away from the other dog

Re: Aggressive 7 month old bitch
It's always possible that she's dog aggressive, and you may never be able to overcome that. Manage it, yes, but not completely stop it.
However, it could just be that she's never been socialised and has no idea how to interract with other dogs. She could also be a bit anxious/nervous/fearful.
Do you know anybody who has a totally bomb proof dog that you can just walk along with? If so, try walking with you & the other owner side by side & the dogs on the outside of you both. Just calmly walking, with no contact between them at all.
If that goes well, then try walking the other dog between you & the other owner. then swap over so that your dog is between you. If that goes well then walk the dogs side by side, but not too close! then gradually get closer.
If at any time your dog shows signs of anxiety/aggression, then go back to the previous stage & start again. If she can eventually get to trust one dog, she may well start to trust others.
In the meantime, keep getting her to sit & maybe to focus on you with the 'watch' command until she's calm.

P.S. Rescue dogs can take several months to fully settle in, and you may not see her true character until she feels totally secure!

Good advice from Caryll I would go with that. Sounds like she just isn't used to the presence of other dogs at all. Do you have a crate?

Shes probably just terrified at the moment. Give it time and then maybe try and set up a dog walking group.

I know how you feel my boy has gone through the same and is unfortunately da as he has been jumped on by another dog
Small steps is best if she's not happy face to face just start with side by side with owners in the middle slowly get them side by side
Exactly as Carroll has said
It will take time but she will settle down with patience
