dry food recomendations - Wet food Empty Wet food

The past few weeks, Zeus has been turning his head up alot at his food. He's on JWB dry and we also mix in some JWB wet food. He'll completely eat all of the wet food, and leave the dry.

Is he trying to tell me he doesnt like dry food? Is there any decent wet food I can feed him, because he swallows that down like theres no tomorrow whenever we've fed it him.

Chiquito also turns his nose up at dry food if given the opportunity ... I mix his biscuits with egg, salmon, meat or some warm water to make it a little more appetizing Smile

I personally do not feed wet food, even the expensive ones are mostly water. Instead I give him raw meat - the cost is less, especially if you can buy in bulk!

Do be careful that you do not offer him something else each time he turns his nose up a the biscuits though ... it may get him to eat, but ultimately you will just get yourself a fussy eater Smile

We had to wean Shéara off his wet food when he came home from the shelter, it took time, but i think its more of a fussy thing than anything else. He eats the dry no problem now, but I'll mix egg into the dry food every other day.

I wouldnt use wet food personally, like Kell said a lot if its made up from water, its a good source of hydration if your pooch is reluctant to drink adequate amounts of water or is lacking in appitite.

Try adding a raw egg to it one day, a couple of sardines in oil another and maybe a bit of meat juices from your roast another!

Sometimes they just need to realise that eating the dry food is actually good!

Hi all, I do this all the time, raw eggs/tuna/etc, but he'll eat whatever I put in and leave the dry food. It's not even about this particular dry food as I've tried a lot of different ones.

Do you give the dry food a good coating in whatever you have added? I know that Chiquito is quite proficient at eating around the biscuits if I do not mix well - and than he is full on the 'yummy stuff' and won't eat the biscuits Rolling Eyes

Or perhaps making a little doggy stew might work for Zues - easy to make and harder to separate the biscuits from the rest ....

I've been having the same problem with Densil - he's been on burgess supadog sensitive which he was fed on at Wood Green and he has not been eating it if it is just dry food. I have now bought some tins of Lilys Kitchen and intend to mix a little of that in with the dry. I know it is expensive but it's worth it to know he isn't eating rubbish.

This was the same for Rocky as he also came from Wood Green, we then changed him over to JWB but he then became fed up with that. He is eating Barking Heads TLC now which he has been doing for just about a year now, we add a little cooked cooled chicken to the kibble for him and he always eats it all up.
