New SATS test for 11 year olds

I'm glad I'm not 11, I have just done the test and only got 3/10 oops . It won't let me post the link but is on BBC website under Grammar test.

I was expecting it to be easy, god that was difficult, I hope they're teaching the kids better, because I wasn't taught the difference between might and may, and fewer and less in school . One of the answers was wrong though, you use a semi-colon when you list things, so I'm giving myself a point . I got five out of 10

Found it. Taking the test now.

Technically, the semi-colon in the test shouldn't actually have been in a list. A semi-colon takes the place of a conjunction and joins two independent clauses. The second sentence can't be joined to the first with a conjunction, so a colon is needed instead.

3 out of 10 and one of those was a guess

I got 4, pfft no wonder all the 11 yr olds are stressed over their sats

I think a big part of the problem is the way children are taught. They only spend a couple of lessons on each of these. I was constantly getting friends asking me to check over their work in A Levels, but that was only because I decided to learn about grammar/punctuation outside of school to help with essays and assignments. The teachers were next to useless. It doesn't really give kids much of a head start at life.

I'm a grammar guru. But grammar was stuffed down my throat by my dad when I was growing up. Actually that's a bit unfair - he didn't do it nastily, but he was a stickler for correct grammar usage.

6/10 for me but I'm thick and I know it

Glad I didn't inherit that then. I'm very laid back about grammar.

I am not even going to say how many I got!
