Black/White English Staf Puppy
Hi Guys
Just bought a new female english staf, never had a dog before nor know anything about the breed, i was leaning more towards a male because i thought they grew alot bigger and bulkier is this true? or can you get the females beef aswell? Im also looking for a name for her, i pick her up in a month, im leaning towards Xena, she is black with back white paws, white chest and white perfect line from her neck to her tail. Also heard they get alot bigger when you desex the females, i didnt just buy a dog to get her big but a loving friend as the females i heard are more affectionate and less boystrous. If you guys could help me out that would be great.
Thanks guys

Re: Black/White English Staf Puppy
This is my female Stafford, there's a couple on here who's girls are pretty muscular, I've got to say, Molly is probably less affectionate and more boystrous than any male dog I've come across, but with training the boystrousness can be brought under control.
She's about 14 months in this image, and is even bigger now, a month or so on.

Re: Black/White English Staf Puppy
Of course you want your girl to look the best she can and they are just like you and me im only 5 feet tall but would love to be taller and slimmer and loads of other things , but im like my mum my genetic make up has made me this way now I can change some of them but not all.
I suppose im trying to say you cant look at a puppy and think its going to be exactly like another.
Check out the breed standard and take a good look at mum and dad and think would you be happy with a probable mix of the 2.
A good breeder will have done this and they would have tried to have bred 2 dogs that compliment each other.
You would not beleive the amount of people that have said to me I wanted one with a big head, such a size ect, all puppies are cute and depending what you want from the end result are you really that bothered if you get a small girl with not much muscle tone in the end as long as she is happy healthy and a valued member of your family.
Sorry I can ramble on welcome and cant wait to meet your new little lady

As gem says, they are what they are! Desexing won't make a female bigger or beefier, it's genetics that determine their size & excercise that determines their muscle tone. Desexing early may make a female a little less feminine, but certainly not bigger!
Have a look at the mother & father, and you'll probably get some idea of what your pup is likely to look like.
By the way, welcome to the forum!

Emma is around 4 years old and is a powerful, muscle bound girl at 36 Lbs. She was fixed last Nov. We adopted Fritz at 6-7 weeks (already fixed) and thought he would be short and stalky but not so much, at 7-8 months he's lanky but getting bigger by the week. Either way they rock so it doesn't matter to us, actually it's better because we didn't want large dogs this time around. Just goes to show you never know what you may end up with.

Re: Black/White English Staf Puppy
We never saw Molly's parents, she is miles from breed standard, we were just lucky her genetics and her upbringing have given her some good muscle definition, as people have already said, look at the pups parents, and then get her on a good diet and exercise, and she'll turn into a little stunner!

Re: Black/White English Staf Puppy
Aww Rhys she's a cutie. I am from Brissy and have only had male staffies and i can honeslty tell u they are the biggest sooks in the world, both would lick you to death.
It all depends on the parents temperaments as well.
I have a name but it's a bit contoversial depending on your political views. Julia after our PM, sorry not a fan of her lol. Xena is a cool name though. I couldn't think of a name for my girl so i just called her Mia as that's what she was given by the people i got her from(she's half border collie half jack russell).
Just thought of 2 more names(i'm on a roll) how about Sookie(after the True Blood character) or Tara(also from True Blood- she's black & takes no * from anyone) or u could call her Bella.
Harley(the one in my profile had sisters called Peyton, Molly & Guppy.
