exercise as she gets older?
evening all, hope you had a great week end, sash will be 9 years old in july not that you would know most of the time she still thinks she's a pup!week days she has her two walks, morning and evening but at week ends she just has one long one, today was hubbys birthday so had family round in the morning, finally got out with her around 1 o clock.we took her up the downs where she has been lots of times before, she had a good run around and we were out for around hour and a half, well she been asleep ever since!she managed to shift out her bed for her dinner and a quick wee and then back to sleep again ,is it best to keep her to 2 smaller walks rather than 1 big one, hate to think of her getting old

Re: exercise as she gets older?
I'm sure she will let you know when she has had enough exercise when out on a walk, usually by sitting down. Maybe be an idea to have a chat with the vet about it next time you are in there with her.
How long are you usually out for a walk with her now ?

Bless, I would stick with it, Moo with the arthritis gets 2/3 good walks daily, and when I am off, all dayers, when the weather is good she is fine, I have to cut it back in the damp.
If Sasha had had enough, you would know Xx

Re: exercise as she gets older?
I've always done two walks per day with mine and sometimes one. When my last dog got older she would really only want two 20-30 minute walks per day and sometimes not even that. I also made sure I would take her out in the coolest part of the day

I have found that some days I can take Rupes on a really short walk and it is enough. Other times I can take him out for ages and he is still hyper in the evening. Trust your gut instinct on this one.

Re: exercise as she gets older?
When she gets to the point of slowing down she'll let you know. But I prefer the thought of smaller walks more often anyway when possible

Yes, I'd agree with two shorter walks rather than one long one, but as everyone else has said, she'll let you know when she's had enough - then you can carry her back!
