Hello
Hello.
Would like to introduce myself and my new staffy cross pup. I'm Louise and along with my husband we picked up a 10 week old staffy cross pup on Wednesday. We have named him Oscar, as his mum was brought into the rescue pregnant we are unsure what he is crossed with, suspecting lab/collie at the moment.
This is our first dog as grown ups, we both grew up with dogs, we also have a 9 month old and 2 cats, the main reasons why we preferred a puppy over an adult dog. We consider ourselves very lucky to have found such an ideal puppy from the rescue so quickly, it was obviously meant to be.
He is a delight, appears to be settling in well, he has taken to the baby and the baby to him. The cats are a different story, hoping they just need a bit of time to settle down. We are lucky enough to have a big enough house that they can stay separate without feeling cramped, although any advice on how to address the issue would be much appreciated.
Also if you have general new puppy tips, would love to hear them. Off to have a good look around now.
(Not entirely sure why the photo on my avatar is upside down!)

Re: Hello
Hi and welcome from Chiquito and I Even upside down Oscar looks gorgeous!
Unfortunately I can't offer any advice on the cats (we are yet to meet one one those!), however if you place a question about it in the puppy chat section I am sure others with more experience will be able to help you out. This is also the best section to find out/ask about general new puppy information

Re: Hello
Thanks for all the welcomes Oscar a truly a delight, not very good at posing for photos tho,
The rescue gave us a massive bag of Purina pro plan, as that's what they fed him. After doing I bit of reading I see JWB is recommended (and its what I feed my cats.) I was thinking of mixing the 2 foods until the Purina is finished, seems a shame to just chuck it out. Would there be any problem with that? Or should I stop the Purina quicker (think there is about 3kg of it!

Re: Hello
Changing the food over to your prefared food slowly is recommended anyway to prevent his tummy being upset. So get to make use of the food you already have
