Bill Roache been arrested

for raping a 15 year old girl

I heard this earlier, it was supposed to have happened in the 1960's. Link to the story below:

Heard that this morning, apparently it was decades ago. God only knows, they are catching a lot of celebs at the moment. Problem is, even if it isn't proven, the man's life is ruined already.

If it's true, yes absolutely awful. But these claims are far too easy to make, and it's already spread everywhere before an investigate has even finished or came to a result. There's no way he will ever shake the reputation.

There are criminals and horrible crimes happening everyday that are well known and ignored totally. Whereas things like this are taken to the cleaners because it causes a bit of hysteria.

I haven't a clue who the man is tbh.

A while back he had some controversy because he basically said that rape and abuse victims somehow brought it on themselves, like a karma kind of thing. So I wouldn't be surprised if it is true, but who knows? Either way, it's weird how everyone's getting arrested for rape and abuse now.

I agree with you, too many claims coming to the fore for it all to be true, I think there should be a cut off point for women to make these sort of allegations. If she couldn't report in within the last 48yrs for stress etc, what has changed to make her come forward now.. They say they have sufficient evidence to prove he did it, but what evidence can they have. It's got to be her word against his..

It's weird isn't it pag. The woman who has accused Bill Roache is not much younger than me, and I'm pretty ancient! I'm damn sure that if I had been raped at 15 I wouldn't wait nearly 50 years to report it. "They" have sufficient evidence do they? Like you, I find that puzzling.

As Tara mentioned, his comments about rape victims bringing it on themselves is not at all helpful to his case, and a bloody stupid thing to say as well, but that's Druids for you.

Personally I do not believe the man is guilty

Trouble is, Stuart Hall being found guilty today (and admitting it) won't help in stopping the bandwagon rolling.

same mate, i have an abh charge hanging over me me which can 100% say never happend.... i spent the night in cells and was even let off after person withdrew charges.... its not nice being accused of doing something you havent done and even now CBT checks are a ball ache because of it... thankfully the person that made the charges is on hand to defend me...id hate to think i dint have them or my life would be a mess... whatever happend to innocent until proven guilty ? everyone is jumping around before its even gone to court...

Ah Nathan, I'm sorry to hear that and hope that it all gets sorted out soon - these things can be a juggernaut once they start rolling as I know only too well myself.

Innocent until proven guilty is the cornerstone of our justice system - even if in high profile cases some supposition is already broadcast through the media, it should not and must not influence the jury, who must judge by the facts presented to them in court and decide accordingly.

Wishing you all the best Nathan, it doesn't sound to me that you will have to get this far - if the person you supposedly visited abh upon is not pressing charges and is willing to appear in your defence, then the CPS would have a hard time justifying court time.
