Hi and welcome to the forum.
What an unfortunate situation. How often is he walked; what food is he on and has he had an overall health check?

Re: help help help
Welcome what was happening when he bit? Maybe to us it seems random, but try to think very hard, because there's usually a trigger. If it's random, it might not be random, but just that it's something the dog's gotten scared about.

Re: help help help
Hi and welcome from Me n Steffi This sounds terrible. Could it possibly be neurological?? It seems odd that he would just click for no reason unless it is a neurological or physical illness. If he has a physical illness it may be a pain reaction perhaps. Sorry I don't have a lot of experience withg this type of problem but we do have some very experienced members here and I'm sure that someone may be able to offer advice.

If raised voices set him off, maybe in his previous home he was abused or mistreated in some way when people would shout, so that's made him scared?

Re: help help help
Hi again
I agree with What Tara has said above, is it only raised voices that set him off?

Sorry I missed this part. If it is a reaction to raised voices it would be a fear reaction to experience. Or perhaps he is trying to protect one or the other (Daughter or bf)

Welcome to the forum from me and the Monster
I've commented on the issue in your other topic. I hope the very best for you. I don't feel he needs to be PTS or anything drastic though

Re: help help help
Hi & welcome.
What a terrible situation for you all! From the little you've said it would appear to me to be either a learned response to violence (in his previous homes of course) or a health issue. I can't imagine he would simply 'change' without a cause after all this time.
My first thought, though, is health. Either a pain response or possibly epilepsy. Neither of which can you do anything about yourself - you'll need to see a vet.

Re: help help help
This honestly sounds to me like a form of epilepsy, or at least something neurological.
However, tests for this will be very expensive.

Re: help help help
This is very sad to read. Whilst very different, Pixee when she came home to us, she is a rescue, never did liked being backed into a corner, e.g. when we tried to go out into the garage, door is from kitchen, and our dinning table was there too, we asked her to move as you do a dog, (this was when we first had her) she was scared and kind of growled at us in warning as she felt she had no where to move over to. We had to be patient not to make her feel backed into an corner again, but over time, we can now do it and she will just be very playful getting in or out the way. We know from her ways, that she has been badly beated. I would see a vet to rule out what Caryll has said. Good luck. We are all here for one another.

Re: help help help
Hi and welcome, its a strange thing as it doesnt sound like agression at all and more like a snap reaction to something. the pulling to the floor is also strange as an attack would usually be a bite hold and shake which would suggest your boy is showing some kind of restraint (although it may not feel like it at the time). I def agree with Caryl and that a vet check is the best thing for the fella.
As for worry about getting abuse here, dont worry we've all been on the end of that stick out and about and look after each other on here. in fact I commend you on your persistance trying to sort the issue out and wish there were more like you tbh. most just give up at the first sniff of anything going wrong. Best of luck and hope its a happy outcome.

Re: help help help
Hey there Tedmeister,
I'm new to staffies but not new to dogs and, sadly, I think it's not looking too good. If the situation wasn't so frightening, dangerous and expensive then you could perhaps look at getting a professional to come to your home and assess him and go from there. It could be just the smallest thing that sets him off, but the big question is what, and I don't feel that it is safe for anybody to take the time to try and find out what it is. Ultimately, it is up to you how to approach this, but if it was me, I'd want to have control of the outcome rather than have someone else jump in and wrench that away from me. I hate that this is happening to your family and to your dog, it's not his fault. I'm sorry to sound so negative, my heart goes out to you and to your boy.
