Changing food, help!

Ok so this Thursday when I get paid I'm going to change Dragon's food and buy a much better food for him but he's a fussy eater... He only likes food in jelly not solid food, we do out some dog biscuit in his food to try get him on dry food but that's the last thing he eats.
So this is the food I'm going to be buying for him, recommended by Choupi68

I did the maths and giving him 200 grams a day which is what he needs and buying the 3kg bag for £12 pounds will last for 15 days which is not bad a bit less than a quid a day pretty much lol, if he likes it then I will be buying the bigger bag of food next time...

What I'm concerned about is him not eating it, what if he doesn't want to eat it? Should I just take the food away and give it to him on his next feeding and not give him anything else to eat until he starts eating his food? I guess I'm just scared that he loses weight again

Anyway what do you recommend me doing?

If he doesn't eat it, like you said, take it away after about 10 minutes or so and put it down next meal time. He won't starve himself.

Just remember to do any change over slowly

What do you mean by changing it slowly? I was just thinking of going straight into the new food and hope to god he eats it

I would change over foods gradually over the course of about a week - 10 days. Just add a little less of his usual food to the bowl and add a little of the new, just keep gradually adding a little more new food instead of the old one until you just have all new food.

He will not let himself starve, just leave the food bowl down for 10 minutes, if he hasn't eaten it by then take it away. Do not give in with treats and biscuits if he whines for food.

Lol, gradual change over, over about a week all so Xx

It's best to change over a week or so, start by adding a little of the new food to the old food and then just increase the amount, otherwise he may get an upset tummy

I see I didn't think of doing it that way oh I do not give in with things like that with me he only gets a eat IF he's ate all his food if not then no treat at all. I will let you guys know how the food changing goes when I get it

Agree with what's been said really, I had to change Ebonys food a few weeks ago and I just mixed her new and old food together till I'd ran out of her old food - I only put a very tiny bit of her new food in at first and her tummys been fine When I first got her though the food I had was too rich for her and wasn't the best for her tummy, so I changed her food then too and she wouldn't eat her new food so I took it away and the next day she was a little more enthusiastic haha.. I wet it a few times to encourage her eating and she woofed it down! Eventually she got used to eating it after a few days I changed her to Arden Grange, I wanted to feed her on Orijen though but it was £75 for 12kg though!!!
