Things happen in threes.....................
Firstly can anyone enlighten me to the laws on dogs aka staffies being on a lead in public places in scotland, cos i'v just had a heinz 57 and a staffie attempt to have a go at my 2, mine on lead these were off lead, i ran into the chemist and asked who these dogs off the lead belonged to, some guy said "they're mine" i asked him to put them on the lead so me and my son could get to next shop and he told me to eff off, so i told him i was fonin polis as it was against the law to have dogs off lead in a public place and full scale barney started and it was a stand off outside the shop, he refused to put his dogs on lead, i stood between mine and his and a crowd was forming, omggg my son was mortified but i wasn't backing down, i was in the right as far as i was concerned.
I think me on the fone kinda pursuaded him to walk away so i went into shop, but omg my heart was racing, because i have the 2 of them now i seem to be more paranoid of other dogs.
Thats the first thing
2nd thing, sent son into shop to get mobile top up and he comes out with vodafone instead of O2, what an eejit!!!!!!!!
what happens next???????????????? lol

The first thing about on lead in Scotland, I'm sorry but I'm not too sure. I am sure however that the bloke sounded like a complete to**er!! Nice one for embarrising your boy though lol!!!
With the voucher, I did that too so I am also an ejjit!! I took it back in and they swapped it over for me, guessing they can still sell the other.

Re: Things happen in threes.....................
This might clarify the lead bit for you.........
THE CONTROL OF DOGS (SCOTLAND) ACT 2010
The Control of Dogs Act (Scotland) was brought in to effect on the 26th February 2011. The main aim of the Act is to promote awareness of the responsibility involved in dog ownership.
The key aims are to:
· highlight the responsibilities of owners of ‘out of control’ dogs at an early stage; and
· provide the information and assistance needed to change the behaviour of the dog and the owner before the dog becomes dangerous.
The Act gives new powers to local authorities for action to be taken against out of control dogs and enforce measures to improve any such behaviour.
It focuses on ‘Out of Control’ dogs. Under the Act, a dog is viewed as being “out of control” if:
· It is not being kept under control effectively and consistently (by whatever means) by the ‘proper person’ who is in charge of the dog, and
· Its behaviour gives rise to alarm, or apprehensiveness on the part of any individual, and the individual’s alarm or apprehensiveness is reasonable. The Act covers incidents which happen on both public and private property/land.
If, after investigation, it is found that the dog was out of control, the owner may be issued with a Dog Control Notice (DCN).
A DCN outlines the measures the owner must take to make sure the dog is controlled in a manner which ensures the safety of others and prevents further incidents/attacks.
Once a DCN has been issued, the council must check the notice is being complied with. Any further reports of the dog being ‘out of control’ or a breach of the DCN, will be investigated.
Failure to comply with a DCN is an offence and can incur a fine of up to £1,000. A court may also make an order to disqualify a person from owning or keeping a dog for a period of time.
So basically, the dogs were not under close control & the owner was therefore breaking Scottish law!
As to the phone card...............I should say "what a muppet" but I've done very similar things myself, so I'll say instead "it could happen to anyone!"
Maybe the 3rd thing will be you winning the lottery!

The first thing I'd do would be to give large amounts to all the cash-strapped rescue centres.

Re: Things happen in threes.....................
It is morons like that twit with the dogs not on a lead that give our staffy dogs a bad name !! Grr!!! Too easy to own a dog and not be responsible.. The same thing happens here.......makes me mad too! Recently a mastiff type dog attacked a kid because the moron who owned the dog had left it tied outside the shopping centre for hours in the sun.. no water or shade.. and a kid wandered up to pat it, and the dog lunged at him. Where was the owner??.. in the nice cool airconditioned shopping centre!! They should NEVER be allowed to have another pet of any description as far as I am concerned!!

Re: Things happen in threes.....................
I agree Vanessa...and it's not just Staffys any dog should be well behaved....our piggy was great with other dogs....we socialised her from the start..took her to little country shows, got her in the ring, the vets had special socialising puppy classes we enrolled her for, down on the dog beaches off the lead with others and of course the numerous dogs that come to the farm with the stable girls or farriers ....it paid off....
Going back to the topic after the tragedy this week I really hope things don't come in 3's....and I would give that winning lottery ticket away to any dog's charity if it would bring piggy back....
