That Was Odd...
That Was Odd...
Leaving the field on this morning's walk, there was a woman across the road who asked if I had a cigarette, so I said no. She asked when the shop opened so I said 7am, she asked what time it was and I told her, so she said thanks and bye. When I said bye and turned to carry on walking, she said, "That dog best hadn't bite me" and then called me a bitch. What?! not only were we on the other side of the road, but Loki was sitting by my side doing nothing, just sniffing the air, he was being remarkably patient and well-behaved. That was the weirdest encounter ever. And people wonder why I have problems talking to people

Omg what a randomly strange encounter, people are idiots, please don't let it bother you she sounds unstable, nice/ weirdish one minute, not nice the next. Strange woman

Sounds like a druggy tbh. When anyone like that speaks to me I just point blank ignore them.

Ignoring people would be wonderful, but I've been trying to make an effort to speak more and get more used to it. Ah well

Even if I had 5 million cigarettes I wouldn't have even considered giving her one.

Me neither. Like in school when everyone asks if you have chewing gum or a pen, the answer is immediately a no

Yep, I remember meeting a lad in Dublin like that, he asked for €2, but I only had Sterling.
I said "Sorry, only got here, no Euro on me". He asked could he come to me to the bank and wait until I got my money out...
He then followed me everywhere all morning and finally he said "At least give me the rest of your drink!". Which I did and he went away.
So in summary. Never be polite to anyone

How random! I have had a similar thing but i was waiting at a bus and some drunk lady asked for a cig and i said i don't smoke and she then pulled out her own ciggys and asked for a lighter and i said i don't have one and she started shouting at me as if i was really insulting her lol then she sat down and started talking about her land lord then the bus came and i bolted onto it!

Loonies!
There's a guy who lives up the road from us. Every time I walk past him he makes a comment about Dempsey....
"I hate those b*stard dogs"
"I'll put my hands in my pockets so he can't bite them"
"You gotta keep away from those devils"
"He better not bite my legs"
etc, etc.
It gets very wearing after a while!

You have quite a bit of restraint to put up with that Caryll.
I wouldn't have been so patient

Some people are just very odd, I would probably say "My dog doesn't bite but I'm not so sure about the owner"

Who said I put up with it? We've had several 'exchanges of words'!
