Story of a baby being injured by a 'staffy' the dog has been destroyed. Not convinced again that it was a staffy but will watch this story to see if anymore news comes of the actual type of dog it was. worried

Haven't heard the full story other than a bit on the forum earlier. Not sounding good anyway.

Moved to the News Section.

story here

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-22275970

the last quote is ridiculous in my opinion...

She said: "My campaign is to raise pet awareness, it's not just on dangerous dogs.

"It's to highlight the other breeds of dogs that do attack and most definitely it is the Staffordshire Bull Terrier."

It is ridiculous! I no of cases of dulux dogs attacking! I forget the breeds name and collies! How many jack russels attack people that dont get reported because its a miniature breed. People who come up with these ideas and laws clearly are not dog owners!

People are idiots. Any dog can attack or hurt someone (especially a child) for whatever reason; bad owners, play gone wrong, possessiveness, the dog being in pain, the dog being scared, etc. Any breed of dog can react in that way, and most of them can be eliminated through responsible ownership and training. Sometimes it seems like people are incapable of common sense so they treat the symptoms instead of the disease. Anyway, although it's sad, I'm glad it isn't an even worse outcome this time.

Angela McGlynn, whose four-year-old son Jean Paul Massey was mauled to death by his uncle's dog in Liverpool in 2009, has campaigned for new laws to try to prevent more attacks.

Why is it that when something tragic happens to a family member the press can keep dragging these people out as some kind of expert.
