Improving :)
Just wanted to share tonight's experience in our 2nd class. It started by us having the meeting outside the centre with all the other dogs and it went great, Otis' tail has actually started to wag and he seems to be relaxing which is wonderful - a lot of the dogs were submitting to Otis, lying on their backs and being very friendly, Otis even started to show signs of playing i.e. bowing and wagging his tail which was brilliant and haven't seen him do before... It's so nice to have the instructor watching the dogs behaviour as at one point Otis kinda jumped back and I thought he was scared but she reassured us and I just found it really helpful as I am still learning his behaviour.
The class went well and the instructor said that Otis works very well and we should have no problem doing whatever course we wanted with him Which was a lovely compliment.
She also showed us a game to play with Otis to teach him to give which is working a treat!!! (pardon the pun )
My OH did the class tonight and at the end we all get together to discuss any problems we may be having. Otis and another dog Oliver were trying to get to each other, Oliver was on his back and Otis had a good sniff everything went really well, the owner didn't mind and it was fine but then out of nowhere the owner pushed Otis away and said right enough your much bigger than him. I think it was just his way of saying it's getting too much but I was just a little disheartened at the way he ended it by pushing Otis away then removing his dog, who seemed to be enjoying the attention. But anyway no worries... I am just pleased Otis seems to finding his feet with other dogs now.

Re: Improving :)
Some owners can be apprehensive although it is a real shame, especially in a class, but never mind, way to go Otis

Well done Otis, you are a little
dont take to heart what the other owner said, he was being overly protective that's all.

Cheers everyone I was just so pleased when he started to show signs of come on play with me which he hasn't done since he was 3-4 months old... I hope this is a sign of good things to come with regards to his attitude to other dogs.

Re: Improving :)
Well done Otis! Pity about the other owner, but oh well, that's some people for you. Pity they stopped play if their dog was enjoying it too!
