My dearest Piggy

Dear friends...my dearest little Staffy died a couple of days ago in a tragic freak accident. My wife and I were working on a house cleaning. Piggy had come in and sniffed about then we put her back in the car for a while. We got her out again just before lunch and we carried on working for a short while, Piggy had gone up into one of the attic bedrooms. We went downstairs and saw the door open and thought she was in the garden or maybe had decided to go down to the beach close by. We started to call for her as we couldn't see her as we sttod in the garden we heard a noise as we turned around we saw Piggy fall from the attic window some 3 stories high. She landed with a thud got up and ran the few yards to my side and lay down at my feet and died with shock....... We have been in bits for the past couple of days. We think the wind had blown the attic bedroom door shut on her and her only way out was through the window, her loyalty knew no bounds. She was loved by everyone that met her even the postman used to bring her biscuits, she was a credit to the breed.....we miss her so much our house is empty with out her... I felt I needed to share this sadness with you as some people think it's only a dog.... we have watched the news about Japan to try and put things in perspective but it doesn't ease our pain.....

Thats very sad indeed and my heart goes out to you, we on here will feel your pain cause your dog means much more than just a dog he was a valued member of your family.
Time will heal it was a terrible accident but you will never forget your her I bet you have some wonderful memories just so sad for you.

My heart goes out to you and your family. Reading your post brought tears to my eyes. Loosing a pet is the hardest thing I have ever gone through. I am so sorry and hope the best for you.

Dear all...thank you ever so much for your kind thoughts and sympathy.... I jumped in the motor-home to go away hoping to face my demons and try and help me get over the loss but it didn't help as I just kept thinking what piggy would be doing as arrived somewhere or watching me eat from the corner of her eye hoping for a * bit that would always fall her way..the weather was nice so I laid a blanket on the ground and shut my eyes for a while and I could feel something on me and could hear sniffing, I thought I was dreaming but when I looked up there was a young Staffy pup sniffing at me all friendly and wagging his tail. I broke into tears, bitter sweet tears of joy and sadness ...and when I got to the beach I just broke down again, Piggy loved the beach... so I came back home and plan on keeping myself busy for a while..... I have contacted the breeder and they are putting my name on the list for the next litter due in June.....the pups will be from the same blood line so temperament should be similar...she was my first Staffy as I was always wary of Staffys,I was just ignorant of the breed and have just fallen in love with them......once again thank you for your kindness and understanding....warmest regards

I was so upset reading it.. can only imagine how you are feeling ...... such a freak thing to happen......Though I do know the pain and heartache of losing a loved fur baby.. it is one of the worse feelings in the world...and I real feel for you. I am so sorry to read about your beloved Piggy and I know from experience how you are feeling right now. But, I believe the staffie puppy finding you on the beach was meant to happen, and its showed you that one day you will love another staffy. Won't be the same, but it won't be any less of a love next time. Once a staffy lover always a staffy lover, so I am really glad that you have registered with the breeder again. I have loved and lost 5 staffies, 3 dogs and 2 * over the years. I wish you well.

Thank you once again...today was the first day I was on the farm alone, I missed piggy as she would "shadow" me every time I would walk across the yard etc...but I don't know why but Alfie (spaniel) followed me around today which is odd as he prefers his "pipe&slippers".....
I have been in touch with the breeder and we are hoping she has a bitch that is pregnant so our name is on the list for a pup in June all being well...it will be from the same blood line as Piggy and all tested....I really miss having a Staffy...

..I think most of us understand only too well the pain and heartache you are going through right now.... When my last dog Kimba had to be put to sleep I never thought I could ever love another dog like I loved him. I was sure in the meanwhile I would have died of a broken heart...so many tears.....now I have Jethro and he is the love of my life!! It took ages for me.. I can only even just now look at all Kimba's photos without bursting in to tears. Like your precious Piggy he will never be forgotten.......but your new doggie will come along with its own unique little personality... and you obviously have alot of love to give to another darling little furbaby...Take care XX

Hi everyone, feel a bit sad reading this thread again but wanted to bring it back up with our news...In May we picked up our pup ( hate the word new)....We did try and call her mini, but everyone still said piggy so it was decided it was piglet...she is a dream everything we could have wished for< I think at the beginning I found it hard to bond if I am honest I did keep comparing her to piggy, but one day I just looked at her and fell in love ...and she is so good no trouble at all, like piggy spends all day out with the stable girls and all evening like now in the middle of us on the sofa...
I will try and add some vids you will get a idea just how good she is..

Sorry for your loss, such a tragedy. Piglet looks smashing and so good with those kittens....I did see her pinch a bit of their food though hoping they wouldn't notice Laughing
