Re: new dog and old dog socialising HELP!
How did you introduce them initially and are they getting exercise?
Also, are you able to separate them at all when things get out of control?
Someone with more experience will be along in a bit, I'm sure

had they met each other before you brought the new dog home?i would walk them as much as you can together so they are on neutral ground, your old dog might not have wanted another dog in her house so may well be feeling put out, hopefully she'll soon come round but make sure they both have their own space and make sure they are kept apart when you are out, good luck

Re: new dog and old dog socialising HELP!
Neutering wouldn't really help. Have they met outside of the home before being introduced at home? Dogs don't tend to like new dogs coming into their home so it's advised they meet on neutral ground. Try taking them both on a nice, long walk together, that tends to get them used to each other and it's helped a dog Loki walks with learn to like him when she used to bark and growl at him.
Besides that, just give it time and never leave them alone together in case things escalate, they can get nasty very quickly. Supervise them and if one of them is getting annoyed or they look like they're about to fight, separate them for a bit to let them calm down.
Any chance of pictures?

I agree with the fab advice given above, I'm sure lots of time & patience will help, and just keep your eyes on them at all times & don't leave them alone together, good luck & yes please lots of pics
