Chewing His Bed and Chair
ok well we have had our staff about a month now and when we got him he was great but over the past 2 days he has started to chew his bed to peices,
we have a wooden chair in the room that he sleeps in and he seemed to have made this his bed since he came to us so we let him sleep on it and thought he may have chewed his bed so we didnt make him sleep on his bed or something like this,
well yesterday he decided to chew the cushions on his chair.
he gets plenty of exercise around 2 hours per day on a tracking line,
he has loads of Toys & bones he can chew on but has decided his bed and chair would be better,
any advice on this would be apreciated.
thanks

Re: Chewing His Bed and Chair
I had a simular problem with Blue.
We read that if they are off the ground they find it hard to chew things as they can't plant their feet, so we got one of these medium sized. (Blue is 24Kgs)

Still have the same bed after 1 year. You can get replacement covers for it when they start to get tatty. They never smell as all the loose hairs etc fall through it and you just sweep them up. Blue now also has a fleece blanket on top of the bed and hasn't tried to chew it.
As for the furniture you can buy a spray bitter apple that you spray on the furniture and it tastes bad to dogs and stops them chewing it

My older one doesnt chew anything and looks in disgust when my youger staffy chews things up. I think its natural for puppies to chew anything, mine chews anything she can find, she particularily likes towels and toilet rolls. I have started giving her a different selection of chew toys and this has stopped it the majority of the time. Im not an expert so im sure other more experienced people could give us both some pointers. Oh yes mine also likes shoes.

Have you tried bitter apple or vicks on the chair to stop the chewing?

Jiff lemon squeezer filled with water.. A quick sharp squirt to distract followed by bad/naughty dog.. You will find just the words 'where is the lemon' will stop them..
