How Do Folks
Hello everyone.
A couple of years ago I took a massive gamble and gave a home to two 12 week old staffie sisters. They had been abandoned in a pub in Hull and my daughter rescued them - at that stage they were called "Peanut" and "Diddy" as the owners thought it would be fun to shout "P-Diddy come here" - I suppose you can gauge the intelligence level.
Well having got them home to St Helens and tried to rehouse them I realised that they had built up a strong bond and that it was going to be hard to separate them. Although we had a 7 year old Jack Russel - we also had a large garden - live with woodland surrounding the house and I love a challenge. So despite the advice on forums telling me that two staffie sisters will fight about everything, may attack Jessie (my JRT) and would never settle I went for it. Luckily I was able to buy a large breeders style pen that they could go in during the day and I was also had been used to the demands of Border Collies as a lad.
I renamed them Poppy & Daisy - I wanted them to be friendly girls not drug & rap gangsta dogs.
Three years on and all I can tell you is that they are the most affectionate, beautiful family pets that I've ever had. We do everything to improve the PR of staffs when out, as others approach us they sit either side of me (on leads) and other dog owners comment on how lovely they are.
It was a big gamble but with loads of love, affection and direction they are two big huge credits to the breed.

Re: How Do Folks
Hi and welcome! Such a nice story. Very often, people are warned against getting siblings because it can cause problems. But I think if you are prepared to put in the work and effort necessary to avoid those problems, it can be very rewarding. It takes dedication and you've obviously done a great job!

Re: How Do Folks
Thanks folks - the photos are just the girls out with their favourite toys (tennis balls) - now this is a good photo
Believe it or not they would hear us trying to get a canoe of the beach and then hurtle down the garden and jump aboard - they loved the canoe's. Imogen (at the back) rescued them

Re: How Do Folks
Thanks for the comments folks - as I said I'd grown up with welsh border collies that demand to be stimulated. I find Poppy certainly as bright as any collie and she does agility classes/courses. Daisy has the looks though with a big polar bear face and she is beyond affectionate and always demanding a staffie-snog
