Losing weight in summer? Empty Losing weight in summer?

Post by DragonTheStaffie Sat Apr 20 2013, 20:38

I went to the vets with my boy to buy deworming tablet and to deflea him like we normally do and we weighed him, he was 16.5kg last month and now he's 15.5kg... I searched on the Internet if dogs lose weight in the summer and some people say its normal that they lose weight and eat less... The problem is he's not eating less hes eating more, normally before he'd leave some food now he eats it all as soon as we put it down and later at night he stats licking his ball for more food so we give him a treat...

Should I be worried that he's lost weight or is it normal?

Try not to worry about the weight change too much, Rockys weight tends to fluctuate too during the year.

I'm not to worried really, he doesn't look skinny or anything but I was just concerned if there could be a problem because he tends to put on weight instead of losing weight and he's been eating quite a lot after we went to the vets, I never seen him eat this much he's normally very fussy with the food Laughing

It could also be his age. He's getting towards full maturity now so maybe he's getting his full body type now?

I wouldn't worry about the weight, maybe he is losing his 'puppy fat'. He looks fine Big Grin
