Wow, Friday night's wine with the neighbours did me in for the rest of the weekend Blushing But Monday morning and finally back in action. Still a little sick at the thought of wine for a while tbh Laughing

I ranted the other day about the neighbours who are blaming Roxy and Vinny for barking. Well, the whole thing got out of hand on Friday. Those dogs of theirs do bark alot, but, um, they are dogs and it isn't like they're howling 24/7. However, the agents of the area sent them a horrid letter telling them that if they do not lock their dogs in the back of their property they will remove them. I was horrified. Of course the owner lashed out but she still blamed Roxy and Vinny and said "they bark all day and all night even though the owners are home." you see, they seem to think we've complained about the dogs barking, which we haven't.

Vinny doesn't even bark! Roxy will have a quick squeal of excitement if a cat goes past and that's about it. So it's really gotten out of hand. I did email the woman and say I'm so sorry for her upset and how disgusting that letter was. Now, when I see her again I am going to have a face-to-face chat, I think, and just say I'm sorry they have been targeted like that but could she please understand that it is not us pointing fingers and we feel a bit upset that she lashed out at us, as upset as she rightfully was.

I hope it's polite enough and taken the right way nail biting

The neighbour issues has completely blown up this morning. It's become personal between two neighbours but because we live across from the ones being targeted they are targeting us. Anyway, people are suggesting the all dogs in the area have their view of the street restricted. As in we get solid gates etc. Just wondering if anyone knows if this can affect a dog? I would imagine being able to hear and smell and not see when they are used to seeing and socialising through their gate would cause problems?

I don't think a solid gate would make one iota of difference!

A dog's sense of smell & hearing are 100 times better than their eyesight anyway!

My thoughts exactly Caryll. Can you just imagine blocking off their view when they're used to watching the goings on and then being able to hear and smell but not interact!

I've decided to go and chat to the neighbours who are feeling victimised just to let them know it's not us picking on them. Their dogs like to bark. I can imagine how much worse it will be if they block them off. The whole situation has made me very upset today angry

Don't think i would make much difference either. Possibly even make it worse but the frustration of wanting to find out what the smell/noise is could make them bark even more.

It's very unsettling.

Yes, a chat might be a good idea - maybe over a cup of tea?

Cup of tea for sure. I don't blame the people lashing out and being upset over ridiculous threats. I'm upset that they think it's us and that they turn around and say Roxy and Vinny are a problem. I don't want to live with tension, so I shall go over later when they're home.

Sadly, their dogs are never out the house - no walks, no exercise. So I'm trying to think of a very polite way to suggest things.

I don't think it'd make much of a difference having a solid fence, but who knows? It's a shame that you've been caught in the crossfire and I hope it gets sorted out.

Spoke to the neighbour and hopefully we are all on better terms. Much better than living with bad feelings Wink
