Blueblack?

Blueblack?
Just seen an advert for some KC pups, they want £750 for the blue pup and £500 for the blue brindle and blueblack? the blue black is black. Are they trying to say the black one has the blue gene or are they trying to rip people off. They look really cute though I am so clued up since joining the forum and things like this make me wonder

Re: Blueblack?
I have no idea, but I'd stay clear of anyone selling more for different coloured puppies. Blue isn't even a rare colour so putting the price up is seriously ripping people off.
On another note, I remember people selling female puppies for more than male ones of the same litter. Is this normal or just a BYB thing? Why woulf a female cost more?

Re: Blueblack?
I've seen the female price higher as well. I assumed it is because you can breed from a female

Re: Blueblack?
As said before and many times , you should pay for the quality of the pup and not the colour and see no reason why a bitch should be more than a dog , unless all the orientation is around selling stock for breeding and making more money

Re: Blueblack?
I've just looked at the link again and the blue brindle doesn't look blue brindle

Re: Blueblack?
just asked what blu black is as it is impossible and also if the pups are health tersted and if she csan support this with paperwork , sort of sounds like a genuine inquiry from someone that might know a bit

Re: Blueblack?
The fact that the pups are advertised as KC Reg and also are advertiused on a sh1t site like gumtree speaks loads too

Re: Blueblack?
Good email, Dave well yeah, Gumtree isn't the first place good breeders go to, I'm sure. The blue brindle isn't even brindle is it, it's brown?

Re: Blueblack?
Blueblack is a con. It's basically them trying to pass off a black dog at a higher price by saying that it has blue in it. That in itself is ridiculous because blue is just a black dilute.

Re: Blueblack?
It's a complete rip off! As Eleanor says, the dog is either black (or black brindle) or blue - it can't be both!

Re: Blueblack?
Sounds like a backyard breeder who has tried to breed a litter of blue pups. Obviously got a mix of blues, blacks and blue fawns/brindles instead and is now trying to pass them all off as rarities.

Re: Blueblack?
A friend of mine had a mixed litter of blues and blacks. Obviously the blacks would be carriers of the blue gene.

Yes, but you can't get a pup that is blueblack! It's either black or blue. Genetically impossible for it to be both, even if it carries the blue gene.

It's actually the opposite. They all carry the black genes, but the diluted black occurs in the blue pups.

Re: Blueblack?
Most likely that one parent had Dd and the other had dd. It isn't at all possible for any dilute dog to have a non-dilute showing in its colour, so blackblues don't actually exist as such. I think the owner is far more likely to be trying to play off the pup at a higher price, as its siblings are dilutes.
Edit - messed that first sentence up. Fixed.
