Oh, no, that's awful!
I take it you've tried anti-allergy pills for your daughter?
If you have & there's no improvement and you are really set on giving her up, then a rescue centre is by far the best way forward. At least they will vet the new home first & make sure she is going to a forever home.

That's horrible, sorry you're in such a difficult situation agree with Caryll, a rescue centre is the best way, that way you can be sure she'll go to a safe, loving home.

Re: please help. :(
That's a difficult one. Is there anybody you know who is reliable and capable among friends or family? Thinking about a forever home you ideally need somebody with plenty of experience, solid finances and plenty of time to spend with the dog, which isn't an easy combination to find.

Re: please help. :(
Yes my lg peyton is only 1 and shes on the highest dose of the pills and we got sapphire in december peytons been takeing the pills since january when we found out and the allergy seems to beat the pills and her allergy is that bad its causing her to have astma attacks. Its going to be heartbreaking to see her go as shes sooo loved and peyton loves her too. So loyal. We wanted someone in the family to have her so we could see her still but nobody is in the possition to give her the time and love she needs. I didnt want to take her to a rescue centre asbi thought they only have them for a certain time and then put them down :,( i heard so many horror stories. X

Re: please help. :(
The trouble is, if she goes to a private home you won't know what they want her for. Very often bitches are taken on for breeding & will bear a litter every season until they're too worn out to do any more & then they're dumped. Or even worse, she could be taken on as a bait dog to train fighting dogs. I really would advise a rescue centre. Some of them will advertise your dog & do the home checks etc while they stay with you so that you know they're safe.

Re: please help. :(
If you are considering a rescue centre make sure it's one that has a policy of not putting down dogs that can't be re-homed. I believe the dogs trust is good in this sense but there are also some specialist staffie rescue places.
Bailey was a rescue and we were her 3rd owners when she was only two years old. The first owners gave her to friends and then she ended up at the RSPCA 4 months later. It's worked out for us but we live in the country and I work from home.

Re: please help. :(
There are rescue centres that will keep her until she is rehomed. There is one beside my work office and they do it that way.
It is the safest way to rehome, even though it seems half hearted it is the most caring and responsible way of doing it.

Thiers always someone in the house with sapphire shes never alone only when its time to sleep and if we have food shes in another room but atm i feel so guilty when peytons up because sapphire has to go in the other room. she loves laying on us and giving cuddles and loves her walks. X

In theory some of those things could happen with somebody going to a rescue centre as well. I'm not suggesting you just stick an advert in the paper. It would have to be with somebody you knew really well and were 100% certain they would take care of the dog.

In theory, yes. But at least there are home checks etc. Most people who are looking for a bait dog or a breeding machine go for the 'free to a good home' ads like gumtree etc.

I think that placing an advert on a website or in a paper advertising a staffie is asking for trouble. I get stopped by dodgy looking characters 2-3 times a month ask me if I want to breed from my girl and this is Cornwall, not the East end of London. She's spayed and the answer would be no anyway. All I'm saying is that if you have some genuinely good friends with all the right circumstances you would at least know where the dog is going and you could spend time with them to make sure everything was OK.

Re: please help. :(
Sorry, this might be a silly thing to say but I know some people this has happened to before:
Is it definitely the dog your daughter is allergic to? I know someone who gave away both her cats because of allergies and realised too late that it was dust mites. Lots of hoovering, and make sure your hoover has one of those micro filters or double bags.
Wash pet bedding often in warm water
Wash pet toys or anythign with their saliva on it with warm water
Another friend of mine took the carpet out and it solved the "dog allergy".
Apparently bathing your pet weekly can reduce allergy symptoms by up to 84%
Anyway it's all in here:
http://www.paw-rescue.org/PAW/PETTIPS/DogTip_Allergies.php
There's also a comment at the bottom of this article where someone says that they are allergic to all dogs except for dogs that are fed RAW
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/06/dog-food-raw_n_1383123.html
Hope that helps.

I'm so sorry for you, that is an awful situation to be in If you have to re home I agree with the previous posts about going through a rescue centre, there are several in and around Sheffield/Rotherham which isn't too far away from you.

Re: please help. :(
Terrible news Good luck with allergy relief, as Caryll said though a No Kill Shelter is the safest way to go.. Please don't give her away free to good home if it comes to having to give her up.. Fingers and paes crossed that another solution can be found ><

Oh no, this is terrible news! It must be so hard for you If I was you I'd look for anywhere which is breed specific, as they do tend to keep them until they get rehomed instead of giving them 7 days before they're PTS. Good luck!

Re: please help. :(
The licking will improve with training.
You can buy anti-allergy dog wipes from pet shops. I don't know how good they are, but they might be worth a try?

Im not sure how to go about training with no licking as shes learnt kisses. Atm were trying no licking but peyton is 2 and she gives sapphire kisses so sapphire does it back so were teaching them both really. Xx
