Hi and welcome to the forum from me and the Monster
Firstly, well done on the rescue. We'd love to see some pics also
Most puppies will have seperation issues for the first while. Normally it's possible it can be hightened being a rescue and again from the mistreatment.
All you can really do is be there as much as you can, practice training from and early age so as to build a bond and to burn of energy, everything's simpler when they are sleepy.
Also, at certain times it's best to ignore needy behaviours as it can make them worse. For example, on the first few days of having Logan he cried non stop all night. It is very hard to do but you have to put it out of your head sometimes and he will eventually calm down. Over time it gets a lot easier

Welcome when you say he doesn't like other dogs, do you mean he gets scared?

Hi Tara,
It seems as though he is nervous , as though he is seeing other dogs as a threat.
My last dog was a rottie and was so laid back he was horizontal !!!!

Hi from me and the girls . Might be an idea to take him to puppy classes to socialise with other dogs.

Re: New Member
Hi and welcome from me and ebony congrats on the rescue! With the separation anxiety I agree with the others, about the aggression is it possible to take him to puppy classes? It'll be easier to deal with his aggression while he's still young and will probably teach him to not see them as a threat anymore
