Garden
Evening all,
I could be about to ask the $1m question but, how do you guys protect your garden.
Our previous dog Stella was a GSD x Staff and she dug up a fair portion of our garden, leading us to dig up that portion, and basically turn it into a flower bed.
Since Stella left us, our new chap, Marlon (a pure Staff) has taken to properly digging up a different area of the garden! We are talking divots and mud and a general mess.
Now I know that part of this will be related to the crappy winter weather but have you guys had similar problems, and how did you overcome it?
I am tempted to try to patch up the dug up area with Topsoil and then re-seed it, but I think a certain little fella will make sure that doesnt happpen.
Any other garden related issues encountered and overcome?
Thanks in advance.
Glenn

Re: Garden
Im kinda lucky as one side is big trees with deep roots so they only get about a foot down before hitting the roots and the other sides are fences and there seems to be rubble at around two feet. problem is there are now starting to look at going over rather than under lol.
as for the rest of the garden, that went in marleys first year and was dug up and transferd to the sofa that was realy great to come home too the lil git

Re: Garden
Steff never digs in the garden, I think the key is to keep them well exercised, digging and destruction can often be a sign of boredom.. I keep her well exercised and she never touches the garden at all Of course they are all different so some dig and destroy even when they get plenty of walkies

Re: Garden
We no longer have a garden They have so much fun digging I couldn't spoil it and the OH and I are not very good with plants anyway.

Re: Garden
Loki didn't inherit the trait of the desire to dig, he's dug like five times in his entire life, and he gets bored after three seconds. So I can't help you, sorry. I think the thing is you'll just have to tell him 'no' and distract him every time he does it.

Re: Garden
Digging up the garden is not a problem we have as its all paving slabs. Would love to have a proper garden some day, but unlikely to happen any time soon.

Re: Garden
Suzy doesn't dig but she attacks the branches of a couple of shrubs, tugs away until they snap! She also races about on an area where I had got some bark chippings covering it and that's all been scattered away. It had pots artistically placed - these are now knocked over, contents emptied and scattered all over as well! I tried to stop her but have accepted it as part of having her in the family.

Tilly digs and destructs whils she is out walking If she sees a molehill she just can't resist , then Tommy is really funny as he goes a little mad with a stick and keeps putting it down to tear out a clump of grass

Steff has just never done it I don't know why it's just not something she has ever thought of doing, maybe she is a little stupid The same as she has never not once tried to escape, even if the gate is opened she won't go out the front unless we call her out It's not something I have taught her she just doesn't do it

Re: Garden
Molly has just learnt that digging is fun lol she never used to do it until she watched our springer several times and thought she'd have a go!
We have fenced off part of our garden and alternate where they can go. Its nice to have a bit of lawn (mainly always in recovery)!

Re: Garden
My 2 have wrecked the garden with playinbg chasey and wrestling. Lola has started to stop chasing and either quickly dig a little hole on tear a clump of grass out then starts chasing again
