Dad will be pleased!
Don't know much about her, tbh. Didn't really care to know - I'd heard she wasn't a very nice piece of work. But R.I.P., all the same!

she give everyone the right to buy their home my family wouldn't be able to buy this house if it wasn't for her
she won the argies when every country said dont do it
larbour made a lot of mistake
by relaxing the banking laws look what happen
signing a way our power to bloody euro without asking us first
bring out asbos (making problem in other areas)
opening the door for everyone to enter our country
i could go on

Eh. She had very strong ideas on what to do and wasn't going to be told otherwise. She at least 'tried' to help get the country better even if it didn't work out so well, but either way, she wasn't a serial killer or a sadist, so I'm not going to agree with people acting like it's a good thing. Especially when she's had no influence in anyone's lives for ages so it makes no difference to them if she's alive or dead.

Re: Margaret Thatcher Dies
As has already been said, good and bad sides to everybody. I've not especially been affected by anything she's done - if I have, I haven't been aware of it - so I neither like nor dislike her. I know people who can't stand her, but I think it depends on what each person associates her with.
Can't see that it matters though. No matter what she did or didn't do, I wouldn't say that she deserves to die or that I'm happy it happened. I don't think anybody has the right to decide who deserves death and who doesn't.

Oh but it's ok, because despite not having a penny to scratch your * on she gave people the right to buy their homes. Shame there was no way of paying for them.
What she giveth with one hand, she taketh with the other.
Her decisions are still influencing peoples lives today, just ask the local scab who chose not to move out of the village with the rest of them, his property still gets vandalised, he's not allowed in the local pubs/clubs and nobody will do any work for him in the area. On top of that his fellow miners who were once his friends tell their kids/grandkids that they're not to be friends with his kids/grandkids, all because she put him in an impossible situation.
how about the floored CSA, "absent fathers will be made to pay", good in theory but I know of 2 people who aren't "absent fathers" of their own accord, the mothers are stopping them seeing their kids and constantly breaking the rules when it comes to access, neither have been allowed to see their kids for over a year, yet they're forced to cough up a large chunk of their wages so the mothers can go out drinking while their new partner watches their kids, half a job again Maggie.
I daren't look at the statistics on how many miners and fathers have commited suicide because of her actions, she may not have directly killed them, but she handed them the gun.
In a few yeas when you lose your free healthcare(that isn't free because we pay for it) and the state pensions have gone, will you be saddened by the news of David Camerons death?

I never said it was only Yorkshire people who didn't have money her pointless attack on miners affected people all over the country! She potrayed good hard working folk like my parents as yobs and monsters and had police batter them with battons so for that reason I took a dislike to her and am not sorry that she is no longer with us!

Where did I say it was just in Yorkshire? We didn't have shipping yards in Yorkshire and she destroyed them too, so yes it was most of the country that suffered. And do you know what we are reffering to when we use the wird scab? has nothing to do with being poor.

My uncle still has the scars where he was beaten over the head and trampled by a police horse, they did nothing to provoke the attack they were stood having a peacefull protest, yet the miners were the thugs?
I'm afraid our opinions will only lead to an innevitable end on this thread so I wouldn't put too much effort into your posts.

Everyone who went to work during the strike was labelled a scab, not just people from Nottingham, and despite what you might think I genuinely feel for them, as I said they werebin an impossible situation, go to work and lose all your friends+live a life of hell, or stand by your beliefs and mates and watcch your family walk out on you, I use the word scab as I didn't know there was a politically correct word for it.

Yup, and Gordon Brown. They both sold us out and led us into wars that were none of our business, they flooded the country with immigrants and allowed the Jezza Kyle culture take over society, So yes, I will be very happy, but I wont be down the miners welfare celebrating with the hoards of people that are walking down the street cheering and singing, because they didn't make the decisions on their own, they listened to the rest of the party(most of the time anyway), Thatcher listened to nobody, as somebody mentioned she made a decision that would benefit her kind of people and stuck to it regardless of what the rest of the party thought, thats not a government, thats a dictatorship.

Re: Margaret Thatcher Dies
The Right to Buy was one of the things Thatcher brought in. In enabled people to buy their council homes very cheaply. On the surface, that was a good thing, but the houses sold off were never replaced by councils & so there were far fewer affordable rent homes for those who couldn't afford the exorbitant rents from private landlords.
I didn't like her when she was alive, I won't be a hypocrite & pretend that I did now she's dead.

And it's also their way of life, none of our business, our business is that Argentina are gearing up for another * whooping and we wont be able to deliver because our troops are messing about meddling in another countries affairs. I've considered the armed forces a few times, but I'm not fighting someone elses battle, when the Argentines declare war give me a gun and a helmet and I'll march in there proud amongst my fellow countrymen to fight for what is ours, but go into another country and cause trouble because Blair was blowing Bush off? No chance.

I agree with that! Compassion and empathy shouldn't be limited and measured by which country a person/people comes from.

Re: Margaret Thatcher Dies
If it was just the way she ran the country I wouldn't dislike her so much. But she cared nothing for anyone but herself.
In my opinion she was pure evil. Nothing to do with politics and everything to do with her being hard, cold and unfeeling to the working classes of this country.
Backing out now cause I always get too heated in political topics.

I admire your confidence, have you seen their air force in action? I think we underestimate them personally, and I don't see the enthusiasm and manliness in our forces today, at times we've been a complete laughing stock.I sincerely hope you prove me wrong when the time comes, and I'm happy to bet the Argentines have been planning an attack since they lost the first time, they'll have a massive head start on us.
It would be nice if we could show other countries the way to inner peace I agree, but we don't have the power or the money, and we have our own problems

Argentina is on the verge of bankrupt for the 4time in the last 40 odd years they dont have power if the report are true we have a nuclear submarine around that area
Re: Margaret Thatcher Dies
I did not like her politics, I did not like the way she lacked any empathy, compassion and her narrow minded bigotry. She ruined British industry, caused a war that could have been averted, she also turned people against each other in the Miner's Strike. However I don't like when people are going on about putting the flags out because she is dead, she is still a person with a family.

She made the MOD make.cutbacks so she could do some more moneygrabbing, the only way they could pull back the money she wanted was to pull the forces out of the Falklands, left it wide open for attack.

I think Chiara was referring to her causing the Falklands, although she didn't declare war on them had she not cut the MOD's funding the forces would have still had a heavy presence on the islands, thus preventing the war. So in theory she did inadvertantly cause that war.

Harold Wilson got the country into silly amount of debt he got booted out in 2 years then labour & lib doms took over went to the International Monetary Fund loan to support the pound; the Lib-Lab pact; enacted devolution to Scotland and Wales but referendums stopped them; breakdown of relations with trade unions and Winter of Discontent. and got booted out after 2 year with the country being on the brink of bankrupty.
also labour Harold Wilson started the problems with the miners
Re: Margaret Thatcher Dies
i hate political debate because no one will ever win so I will stay clear of that part.
What I will say though that she was the first female prime minister in europe, and in a male dominated setting she had to be cold hard and calculated. she wouldnt suffer fools gladly to the point that in the midst of the cold war it was the Russions that dubbed her the Iron lady... even the labour council in her home town of grantham wanted a statue of her in the town (which she was so against) as they wanted to boost tourism...
whatever your politcal views you have to admit she had cahooners bigger than any single poilition alive today. if they all had her conviction to a cause we wouldnt be in this bloody mess were in now. we could do with a maggie on all political sides fighting for each party and then we would prob start making some progress.
