Re: This site brought me luck :O)
She has agreed as long as I stick to the following
- Sell my focus st3 and buy her a Fiat 500 ( I said she could have one if I could have a puppy )
- Bitch ( she will be living with Bomber a male lab/retriever)
-Colour she wants either blue, white/Black or completely white( I have no preference happy with any colour although I do quite like blue)
I would consider a rescue but would prefer a full staff and it would have to be a puppy.
If it was not for Bomber I would have already been down to the local rescue for an adult.
She is bothered about the stigma that comes with SBT as of late so the other thing I have had to agree to is a nylon harness with lilac fleece

I had texted about one in shrewsbury last night but it had gone a lovely white bitch with a couple of black spots from what I could see on the picture.

If you're looking for a blue puppy, make sure the parents aren't both blue (ie one blue and one black), because breeding two blues together can create health problems in the blue puppies wish you all the best of luck!

I like to put my 2 in nice Ezydog harnesses and collars rather than proper leather harnesses and collars etc as they are great products and don't make the dogs look so macho, I walked Tilly for over a year in a pink cammo harness and collar and it didn't bother me in the slightestniknaksky wrote:She has agreed as long as I stick to the following

You have to be very cautious if you are looking for a pure white staff as they can be prone to illness , deafness proble and as said above Blues when not bred correctly can also have problems, the best blues come from non Blue parents generally as "surprises" etc so just do your research. If you are going for a pup then please make sure you use a decent breeder , check out all the papers , health tests etc , plenty of info in our guides on here if you haven't read them all already

The problem with buying puppies that aren't KC-registered is that most of the time they won't have had all the relevant health tests done to make sure the parents don't pass on any problems to the puppies. Like I said earlier, if both parents are blue, you'd be safer to give it a miss too.

Re: This site brought me luck :O)
The price of the puppy should have no bearing on the colour, so long as you buy from a reputable breeder you should be OK. Please, please make sure that both parents are not blues though.

Re: This site brought me luck :O)
Two blue parents can cause health problems:
https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t17716-colour-dilution-alopecia
So it's best to buy a blue puppy where one parent is blue, and one is black. Many blue puppies (especially the ones that aren't KC registered) are bred by people solely to make money out of a popular colour, which is irresponsible of them.

It can bring all kinds of health risks and deformities to the puppies.

Re: This site brought me luck :O)
Great news and congrats.
As already said, be careful when buying a pup as there are a lot of cowboy breeders out there, especially when it comes to Staffords.
£400 for a non KC reg dog is far too much and should be avoided IMO as it strikes me the dogs have been breed at low cost to make money as the colour is sought after.
Having a rescue won't mean it's any less full Staff than otherwise too, so if you see a nice rescue go for it

Re: This site brought me luck :O)
She looks very nice.
At 15 weeks I'm assuming she's not with the breeder though and it's maybe someone who has got and given up on a young pup?
It's really important to see the parents of the pup so you can determine it's general size and temperment in later life. Also, to make sure both parents aren't blue and have been health tested.

Sounds like there wont be a chance of seeing the parents I would guess.

Re: This site brought me luck :O)
If you dont get the pup straight from the breeder and from a family, make sure you ask plenty of questions. I made this mistake with Alfie and had no end of trips to the vet with an ongoing issue which the previous owner failed to tell me. It wouldnt have stopped me getting Alfie but it would have been better if I had known everything from the start

Re: This site brought me luck :O)
a quick list of questions followed by the answers.......
is our 11 month old pups both parents blue? - yes[actually his mum has a very slight white[2 inch flash on her chest]
did we pay over the normal price for our blue boy ?- yes
did we care at the time? -no we had looked at a lot of diffrent colours and prices his mum and dad were fantastic looking dogs and are so proud to own him well worth the travel to get him.
just about a year on how do you feel your dogs cumming on?- i wish i had got 2 but the breeder said to leave a few months we keep in touch with owners of the other pups as well as breeder couldnt have been nicer.
we are still stopped in the street buy people asking where we got him and how fantastic he looks so our own experience of buying a blue staffy pup went really well.. if thier was any advise i would give it would be not to rush..

Re: This site brought me luck :O)
Not all puppies from blue parents will have problems, of course, but the point is you're taking a risk by getting a puppy with two blue parents, and it's a risk not worth taking just for the sake of rushing. You'll find the right puppy for you, but finding a healthy puppy from a responsible breeder isn't as easy as finding a blue puppy from whoever is willing to sell one, because there are lots of irresponsible people doing that. Take your time and make sure you do things right. I got Loki from an irresponsible breeder and I don't regret it, but now that I know all the info I know now, I'd do it properly second time round.

Re: This site brought me luck :O)
The other problem with buying a pup after they have had their first owner as you point out here is the lack of opportunity to see the parents and TBH pups all grow at funny rates so no reall good comparison to be made at this age. If I look at the picture here I would say this pup was not a full staff but may just be growin g awkwardly. Also remember that just because they say they have papers doesnt mean that the papers are genuine
Guest- Guest
Re: This site brought me luck :O)
Thats a good point about the papers.
Just found a beautiful girl but after speaking to the breeder both parents are blue.
They own both mom and dad are kc reg with 4 weeks free insurance but it is a risk
If both were not blue I would of been on my way down to Leicester now.
It wasn't this hard when I bought sky lucy and bruno.
Majority for sale seem to be blue as well.
Might have a chat with the mrs tonight and see if she wants a different colour.

Just put the name of the mom and dad in that I was thinking of having a pup from and here are the results
dad = 39%
Mom = 2 %
So is this a no no then ?

No Dad is unbelievably high. I've never heard anything as high. I know there is quite a bit of controversy over COI's but we can all agree that 39% is far too high.
Mum is fantastic though which is sad

That isn't as bad as 39-2 though and most likely averaged out?
Just gotta be careful matey, because it would totally be heart breaking to put love and effort into a new pup and then some horrible thing happen as a result of some cowboy only doing it for money.

I have looked at it but because most litters aren't anywhere close to me I haven't really paid too much attention tbh. I think it's fairly high regarded but sadly research has to be done even still I guess.

The lower the better. As far as I'm aware the average is 7%. High COI's aren't definitive to health problems but it's a risk not worth taking if possible.

So even though the % of this one is a hell of a lot lower is it still a bad idea with both parents are blue ?
When I bought sky/bruno/lucy years ago I just got a list from the kc and called the person.
I asked no questions done no research but I must of just got lucky.
It seems like any thing you research into is going to have problems but it would be irresponsible to ignore the evidence

Two blue parents can lead to problems, again it's not saying all blue/blue pups will def have health problems. But again, it's a risk not worth taking, and fairly irresponsible on the part of the breeder.
