Not a fan of it either, but it keeps people inside so I enjoyed my walk a lot more.

Re: The Grand National
I struggled with the moral dilemma and chose not to bet, however one of the horses I picked came 2nd!

Re: The Grand National
My mum, dad and brother wanted to bet on it, but it wouldn't go through. My brother's horse came second and the one I picked randomly for the hell of it came third, so I found it hilarious that the bet didn't go through

Re: The Grand National
I'm not a gambler, but have always been "horsey" so the Grand National (along with many other important horse races) has been part of my life since I was knee-high, although the GN has always been a "car-crash" sort of race that I always watch between my fingers.
I was so pleased to see a race this year that resulted in NO casualites whatsoever due to the improvements that Aintree has made; a true test of a horse over a certain course and a certain distance - coming onto a par with the Cheltenham Gold Cup and KG5.
To my horror I have found a great ground-swell of "punters" complaining on the BBC website that there were not enough fallers! The Great British Public seems to relish carnage - shame on them.

Re: The Grand National
Yeah, shocking but true. Just go to the BBC website and check out the comments on today's race.
