When she sees any other dog male or female she trys to pin them down not agressive but i have to pull her off Lilly is coming up 7 this year she's never had puppy's and she hasn't been spayed I don't have any other animals, do you think any of these factors could have anything to do with this behaviour x

Re: Domineering
Have you had her from a pup? Sorry for the questions as its usually a dominant thing the humping, but playing rough is totally normal! Have you tried to discourage it any point?

Re: Domineering
I've had her since she was 6weeks old and I have to be careful coz she's done it before to my dads doberman there 1st meeting and she got him down we separated them n he won't bring him anymore, and all I've really done is pull her off and put her in the house or if I'm out with her I avoid getting to close

Its going to be a difficult thing to break now but not impossible. I'm not really in a position to advise but I know Ella one of our forum members has actively dealt with one her dogs, different situation but she may be able to help. Good luck Xx

Re: Domineering
Hey
My dog Chance does a very similar thing to dogs, he is an incredibly dominant dog who will pin other dogs regardless of gender down.
I do not let him off lead unless in a remote secure area, so I have the chance to control him with the lead before any problems occur.
Does she recall away from other dogs out of the house? If not i would suggest you leave her on lead around other dogs or try a long training lead.
My way of doing it with Chance is to distract him from the other dog and gain his attention. I need to notice the other dog first and make him sit and get him to the watch me command (basically hold a treat up to your eye level so they 'watch' you and when they do say watch me and give treat).
Also is there any dogs you could take her for a walk with to get some good socialising? but yes you are doing the right thing be separating her from the other dog when she pins them, i would pop her back on her lead until she calms down
