My dog Riley has a wort in his ear iv taken him to the vets and they say there is no treatment but an operation to remove it costing £180 , has any other dogs owners come across this and if so how did you treat it , Riley is 22month old

Thankyou

Does it seem to cause him any bother in discomfort, or does it seem to be getting any bigger over time?

The reason I ask is because my last dog had a lump/cyst on her belly but because it wasn't bothering her the vet said it might be best to leave it alone because it wasn't cancerous and to operate it may cause problems.

If all it is is a wart, and it isn't bothering her or getting caught on anything then I'd leave well alone!

Hmm if it's bothering him it is worth thinking about doing something. Maybe you could get another vets opinion and possibly find they have something to treat it with to avoid possible surgery?

agree a 2nd opinion from a different vet may be the way forward here if it is bothering him

I would get a second opinion, I'm no vet but if it is a wart then it can be treated sort of like a human, but it could be a few other things also which again wouldn't result in surgery, Moo had a benign tumor which sounds the same and it went away. But again I am not a vet Xx

Sometimes two vets can totally different opinions, one of my last dogs became sick and the vet just said "put her to sleep as she's suffering" but I went to another vet and they tested her to find she was diabetic and with treatment she lived on happily for years Smile

You could find another vet could possibly have a very simple way of dealing with it Smile
