Has anyone heard of this?
I was out with Mia today and a woman stopped and asked if she could stroke her. I said yes thats fine and we were chatting , she commented on Mia`s colour and said it was an Irish blue. I have never heard of this , has anyone else?

Re: Has anyone heard of this?
Some people used to call bigger Staffords Irish Staffy's and it became a term people used to disguise dogs that could be considered "type" when the ban came out. But there is no such thing as an Irish Staffy, it was just slang that caught on.
I have heard the term Irish Blue before, normally from older people tbh. I think it was maybe taken from the "Kerry Blue" which was very popular over here in Ireland at a time.

I've heard the term but learnt from the forum that they don't exist.

Re: Has anyone heard of this?
Yes, I've heard the term - but that's all it is, a 'term' for a stafford cross (usually of pitbull type - or rather what the uneducated think a pitbull looks like!).
There's no such breed as an Irish Blue, or any number of other silly names! A stafford is a stafford, and if there's something else mixed in then he's a stafford cross.
Mia's a very beautiful girl, who doesn't look like a pitbull to me at all!

Re: Has anyone heard of this?
I def wasn't hinting Mia had any Pitbull in her. Debs was asking about the "colour" Irish Blue, which I believe came from the Kerry Blue, or The Irish Blue Terrier which it is called over here. Mia is a lovely girl, and a great colour.

I know you weren't!
I've heard that the Kerry Blue is called Irish Blue across the water - couldn't get two breeds that look less alike!

Re: Has anyone heard of this?
For some reason people think it's a separate breed, but it's not. Usually puppies advertised as Irish staffs or Irish blue staffs are crosses. My cousin's girlfriend bought a Staff she said was an Irish blue and told me it's a rare breed
