Tex, Staffie X, DOB 03.12 - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire
Homing Requirements: Tex needs a training focused family; as in that he needs to be in experienced hands. Tex thrives and succeeds in all areas of his life. His family could work part-time as he can be left for short periods. Tex could live with another settled dog. Still a little mouthy when excited so awareness around children outside and visiting who appreciate his good intentions.
Video: Tex plays with his toy
Video: Tex Hide & seek with Murphy
Video: Tex playing in the Hay to music
His Story: Tex came into the pound as a 3 month old puppy, was homed for a short period with a devoted owner who had him off lead and adored him but was leaving him for long periods and so had to return him. Tex came into our rescue but doesn't cope in kennels so has had a premium foster place with a trainer and he has come on leaps and bounds. Tex is neutered, chipped and vax'd. Currently in foster in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
Advert: Tex just send him a Text saying ... “B Mine!” Tex is young and with guiding ethos he has shone through. In foster Tex has shone by walking to heel, being left overnight downstairs and during the day free range with no destruction. Tex needs a garden/ He delights in dog companionship on his walks although he can get confused with hyped up dogs which in truth he wants to play with. Tex is a Super Star!
Tex is a "Whippetty" 18 month old Staffie X of small stature, tender eyed and affectionate. Tex loves to be stroked and cuddled especially on the sofa. Tex is still a 'baby' who missed out on so much in his early life but has now been trained, socialised and is a dear, dear soul. He can become a little leapy and spin if he goes in kennels but we do everything we can to keep him out. Tex is delighting in the fun of learning and pleasing.
Please visit Tex’s thread on our forum: http://rescueremediesdogrescue.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=375 to find out if he is still available and for fuller details.
If you are interested in re-homing please complete our homing questionnaire: https://rescueremedies.wufoo.eu/forms/rescue-remedies-homing-questionnaire/ so we can ensure our dogs are matched and will suit your circumstances/lifestyle.

Tex really needs a break from kennel life. Is anyone able to consider fostering him?
Re: Tex, Staffie X, DOB 03.12 - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire HOMED
Tex paid us a visit at Saturday's Fun Day and I almost didn't recognise him! He wasn't on our list for photos, but he really has grown into his fur and blossomed in foster - check out the pics further up his thread and be amazed at the transformation! He was very well behaved too and has learnt lots of nice commands so he was easy to photograph ...
Tex is still available for adoption!

Tex is now in foster - here is an update from his fosterer:
"Just a few words to remind everyone about this super little man.
Basically he's fantastically obedient, recall is amazing! Lead work is great as is sit, stay, wait, leave etc. etc. etc. He learns very quickly.
Dog and people friendly although somewhat over excitable on new meetings and house visitors. He regularly comes with me to other homes and, although really excited at first, soon settles.
Totally clean in the house, no separation anxiety and 100% non destructive with anything you haven't given him as a toy and knows off limits areas without having any physical barriers, even when I'm out!!
Very treat focused and always waits nicely for his turn in line when there are lots of dogs to give to.
Waits patiently for his dinner and never tucks in until he's told he can.
Plays happily with all the other dogs in his circle/pack. Or just jogs along beside if that's what's required.
He's never chased a cat, rabbit or squirrel, or wildfowl on the river (they don't even get up when we pass) He's curious about cats, but that seems to be all. I'm not saying he wouldn't chase one running, but I'm sure that's true of a binbag blowing down the street.
I think he could live with another dog easily. They will have the odd spat, but he loves having other dogs here as long as they don't want his ball
However, perfect he's not - he does get tetchy when I'm getting the dinners and it has been an issue in the past although he's improved so much and always fine once they're tucking in..
He doesn't appreciate large off lead dogs rushing up to him and has warned them off, and snapped when they wouldn't take no for an answer.
He chases his tail periodically and gets so worked up I don't think he knows what's what so young children may be a problem for now.
A bit ball obsessed and does covert a football being kicked around the park. He seems to be fine once he's got his ball firmly in his mouth.
I don't think he's for young children, at least not yet.
A forever home must be just around the corner - surely?
Anyway enough natter: photos..........
Spotted him yet? Try the middle of the picture..."

An update from Tex's fosterer:
"Well January being a very busy month for me, I haven't had time to update you on Sexy Texie! He's been with me a year now and for the life of me I don't understand why.
In December Barney made a welcome reappearance in Tex's schedule and it was just a 'pick it up where we left off' sort of a day.
Followed by a Barney and Tex 'Friends reunited' weekend in January
Video:'Friends reunited'
Video:'Friends reunited continued'
He's also got to grips with a very large Chocolate Labrador called Reuben who jumped all over him at first. He told him off lots of times before he went in with big guns blazing and really sorted things.
Now that Reuben's not jumping all over him they are more relaxed and can have a run around. He just didn't get the point that Tex is a bit put off by big dogs so they got off to a bad start, but fences are mending and they now get on just fine.
Tex isn't too interested in dogs he doesn't know, he'd rather make a fuss of the humans with them which can be a bit daunting if you don't know him. Try as I might I can't stop his OTT excitement at meeting and greeting people - especially men.
I think he'll be an overgrown puppy for a long time to come yet.
Herewith some pictures of Tex and Reuben enjoying a rare sunny day a few weeks ago.
At one point they were racing in and out of the water (sorry couldn't get the camera out quickly enough) when Tex leapt into what he thought was a large puddle - and disappeared - totally. He came up shaking water out of his eyes, ears and everywhere else which Reuben obviously found very amusing, he hadn't made the same mistake, as he thought he'd upset Tex by jumping on him in his excitement, but as I've said before once Tex makes friends, it's forever.
He's about to meet Megan, one of our rehomes in MK, as she's coming to stay in March, he'll have to mind his Ps & Qs, and then a rather gorgeous young Sharpei called Lola - he'll love her"!
