Blue Staffys - Siezed
Just read thst more n more Blues are being seized as 'type' the latest one that I know of was chipped, KC reg and 5 gen pedigree
To me she looked nothing but staffy.
This is so out of control what the heck is gonna happen to this lil staffy
Makes me feel scared to walk my girl who is over standard despite KC reg n champs in pedigree

Re: Blue Staffys - Siezed
It's a very scary thing. I worry about it too sometimes.
I love blues, it's a gorgeous colour. However, they really have became even more of a status symbol lately sadly. People refer to a blue staffy as if it's nearly a separate breed, like "I have a blue Staffy", whereas no other colour is refered to like this.
Because they are so sought after and becoming more common, sadly they are falling into the wrong hands.

Re: Blue Staffys - Siezed
I do find blues less standard than normal, and they breed them as such, so this is why.

Re: Blue Staffys - Siezed
Just found out there is a gorgeous 6 month old blue staffy cross (poss lab from looks) who lives 3 doors away I have heard barking from the yard most days but never seen the dog til the 11yr old daughter was walking (being walked) around the park today. Definitely looks 'type' but a lovely friendly dog just already far too big/strong for a child to be walking even if it was nice to have another friend for Ledger he does like the girlies I just fear for the poor dog obviously loved now but soo boisterous already

Re: Blue Staffys - Siezed
because most blue are being poorly breed when you do that you get dog all shape and seize and some will fall under type
Re: Blue Staffys - Siezed
It's sad, all the problems that's come from people breeding a popular colour obviously lots are bred responsibly, but the irresponsible breeders are everywhere, and it's created a lot of problems because they can end up in the wrong hands.

Re: Blue Staffys - Siezed
So many blues dont even look like staffy's..
I dont get why people only seem to care about the colour.
Really sad!
As for seizing a friendly dog who happens to look 'type' is stupd imo.

KC papers are very easily faked. I could breed lexi to a poodle and enter in a random staffies KC papers as the father of the puppies.

blue staffy's
hi, my name is Sharon, am new to this forum and have been reading about blue staffs being 'seized' and 'type', can someone please elaborate? I re-homed a blue brindle/white staff approximately a year ago where she was being used just for breeding and love her to bits

Re: Blue Staffys - Siezed
Welcome to the forum Sharon.
Some dogs have been taken from their owners for being deemed "type" which is a term taken from Breed Specific Legislation meaning a dog that look's pitbull type or similar.
It is nothing directly to do with blue dogs this story was just to inform that some blues had been taken. A lot of blue dogs get a bad wrap as they tend to be slightely bigger than Standard. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them though and you should be worried. Just be as responsible as possible and you will have no issues

Re: Blue Staffys - Siezed
hi mat, so you're saying that the authorities have on occasion seized these dogs?
My staff is much larger than most staffs I've seen and quite large for a bitch and lots of people who own staffs have commented on her size, am now beginning to wonder if she is full staff or cross with a pitbull

There has been dogs seized. There has been a few very high profile cases that have been all over the papers etc lately.
It is very unlikely she has anything pitbull in her as there are next to none left in the country. Some Staffords are generally a bit bit. But for your safety you'd always be best referring to her as a Staffy X and never mention the thought of possibly pitbull as it will only ever get you in trouble.
Don't worry about it though, if you keep your dog under control etc you will never have any problems

Re: Blue Staffys - Siezed
it's very unlikely you have a pitbull because people who own real pitbull wont give their line to any tom, * or harry because it be easy to be trace back to them if you dont have a full staffy you either got a poorly bred staffy or crossbreed that may be class has a pitbull type you really should of did some research before taking on a dog.
Re: Blue Staffys - Siezed
when I can work out how to do it (i'm not very technically-minded) I will put some photo's of missy up for you all to see her, she's gorgeous x
