Sleepy Plastic bags

Post by Guest Thu Mar 28 2013, 22:20

Lola has suddenly developed a fear of carrier bags. You know when you are unpacking shopping or scrunching them up to put away in the cupboard? She just freaks really bad and shakes and trembles. Anyone heard of this? Sad

buck just tries to get inside them to get at all the goodies.

my parents JRT wet herself with fear a couple of times when she was little because she was afraid of them. she used to run to the door to welcome me home then suddenly realise "oh no its a carrier bag!!!" skid to a halt and pee whilst trying to run in the opposite direction.
she grew out of it pretty quickly though.

as janey said, dont make a massive fuss about it and your dog will quickly realise that theres nothing to worry about Smile

Loki got scared of a flag waving in the wind the other day. Walked him past it the next day and he was a bit better. When they're random fears like that, the best thing (in my opinion) is not to make a fuss, just carry on as normal and let them see you don't find it anything to be scared of, and eventually she'll work out in her own time it's no big deal.

I know a staffy who doesn't like bin bags - when it's being changed she barks and runs away. I echo the others advice, try not to make too much of a fuss when they get upset over the bags and I hope Lola calm down with them Smile

Not seen that one before. As already stated don't make a fuss over it. You could also try putting her food in a bag and than transfering it into a bowl. Basically like positive association to ease the fear. Suki used to be terrified of trains but after about 10 days of working with her she is fine with them. Same thing with the vaccum and a few others.

Logan used to love jumping up and tearing them out of peoples hands when he was younger.

He has a few strange phobias though too, it will decrease over time hopefully Smile

Not something I've come across before, can you not use the reusable cloth bags and avoid the plastic ones.

Ledger doesn't like those small signs you get out side shops that can flap back and forth in the wind but only blue ones! He has never reacted to other colours! He also got really freaked by a throw hanging up on a stall in the market last week it did have a picture of a tiger but was almost identicle to his throw that I have on my bed for him to nest in Laughing
