The stress of moving.
We've been packing all weekend, with unscreewing beds and staff. Poor Debo, I think he can sense something. He cant relax, yesterday he setle when we got to bed. He was fallowing us all day. We had to drag him everywhere yesterday, cuz we didn't want to leave him alone surrounded by boxes. He's been very good but you can tell he's alert and anxiouns. I'm hoping he's going to be ok when we get there. And he'll be ok to stay by himself in a while. We won't leave him alond in a new place straight away of course. Any tips to make things easier for him?

Re: The stress of moving.
I bet it's a very stressful time for ya's all. You'll be glad to get it all finished!
The thing about nervous/anxious behaviour I find is it's actually sometimes better to not acknowledge it as it can sometime make it worse.

It's really the same as bringing them home the first time. A good walk before going into the new place and then let him go explore. Show him his bed a food bowl and than just act normal. They are fairly adaptable.
My last dog had 6 homes in about 9 years and she never had an issue

Re: The stress of moving.
I moved house a few weeks ago and Shéara was a bit anxious following us everywhere. We took him to the new house everytime we dropped boxes off so he could explore a little each time. Like jstaff said ^ show him where his food bowls, toys and bed are, it wont take long for him to adapt. Giving him more attention whilts hes feeling anxious will probably make it worse.

Re: The stress of moving.
Our old Boxer was bad enough when we were packing to go on holiday, he could tell something was going on and would get a bit restless. I think try not to make a big deal out of it, pretend nothing is different, he'll be less worried than if you were making a fuss of him.

Re: The stress of moving.
Do you have an old jumper/ top of yours something that has your scent on, and put this in his bed in the new home. He will then know that you will be there with him and he will not get quite so anxious when he can smell you.
Hope it all goes well, take care.
