My personal car is a focus st and u get in a drive my OH has a escort (project) and thats even more basic!!

Haha Dave! I had a classic MGB way back, by heavens it needed the manual choke to get going! AND, I had to keep the choke open to KEEP it going by putting two clothes pegs on the pulled out choke button (it never occurred to me to hang my handbag on it!) Nightmare car. Modern cars are sooooo much easier.

What matt its a 10 plate? Still cost abit tho at that age!

its got the same T3 turbo as the cossie and 444cc injectors, high lift intake cam, straight through 3 1/2 exhaust as before cats needed for mot. runs 1.5 bar and we had to dial it back on the rolling road as we couldnt get enough fuel in. also bigger front mount intercooler and methonal alchohol/water injection to keep the charge temps down. its a beast. i ground in each valve personally and changed all the collates (pain in the butt) racelogic traction control and blitz turbo timer. my fave bit is the streering wheel mounted turbo control...your making me feel like getting her out the gaurage now lol except she has very bald rear tyres....no idea how that happend Wink many more bits and bobs like the greddy pistons, shot peened crank shaft.. its endless for gods sake i even mapped the chip myself its a killer not to drive her Sad

Just had to read to OH to explain fully haha am getting there tho with car talk!!

He says u must a put loads into it!
I want mine chipped soon and having new exhaust built. My OH doing his but needs welding and re spray first. That did 240 on rolling road he wants least 300 bhp from the escort in time!

the escort should easily do 300 bhp its a good solid block tbh and they are very reliable when turned so the internals dont need so much * about with. YT getaway in stockholm 2 for a taster and if you can get the full vid its awasome what a cossie can do, not that i condone street racing Blushing i once dreamt i did a racing lap of the M25 at 2am and came 3rd after a cossie and skyline... intresting fact...not one camera on the m25 is active..even now lol.

Really I thought they were all active but only when the variable limit is in force.

You need to go to Stuttgart where they have 1 of the longest stretches of unlimited Autobahn now (most are limited with only little short spurts these days) that's where the Merc , Ferrari and Porsche owners get up at 3.00am to do their road testing

Yeah Dave, cars were a lot more straightforward in those far off days - no computers! Unfortunately for me though I didn't have a dad to look after my car for me so all the weekly puggling under the bonnet was down to me (and those cars DID require a lot of weekly puggling under the bonnet).

I'm just so thankful that these days I don't have to lift the bonnet at all and leave it all to the yearly service. Hooray for progress.

I like the older ones because I can fix them myself, although the new ones get much better gas mileage

Haven't had those on cars since carb's were phased out in '91/'92!

Really? Oh well, I meant the thing that made the engine run faster when first started, then when it was judged appropriate you pushed the button in (unless you forgot like I did sometimes!). Anyway, we don't have to do that these days - don't know why!
