Poor girl. She's 14?
I'm not sure what I would do apart from giving her easy digestible foods. Keep her comfy x

Re: HELP PLEASE
Well we managed to get her to eat a whole malted milk biscuit that was on the table! Tried everything else from fish and chichen to mince and veg. Off to the shops today to buy her some puppy milk and try that with some wheatabix maybe she will like that.

Re: HELP PLEASE
How about porridge instead of wheatabix? The wheat might not agree with her.

Re: HELP PLEASE
Well the update for today is that Ellies breathing has slowed considerably (not laboured) which I think indicates that there is less fluid on her lungs and that she is getting more oxygen through which hopefully is reducing the stress on her heart. She is still only eating small amounts of food but she is doing very little and it looks like she has put a tiny bit of weight on, fluids however she is taking plenty. She still has plenty of fight in her as every time I give her tablets she locks her jaw down on me as if to say no. But I am that little bit more determined and she will take her medicine We are not back at the vets until next Thursday when I hope that they will give us some positive news. PS these are just my thoughts as I am not a vet and would not want anyone to follow this as fact with their precious pet. x

Re: HELP PLEASE
Hi Guys, many thanks for your kind thoughts. Dusty is confused as we keep calling her Ellie but other than that she seems OK. Think that she is used to our daft ways especially as we call her Doodles and not Dusty and Ellie was Smellie so there were really six of us in the house. I can smile today as I am glad that we didn't have to make that tough decision and also when I think that two years ago the vets advised us to have her put down due to arthritis but we got past that, and she had an extra two years.
