Paul.. Really? You have a odd sense of humour..
For some it is normal and natural.. To others it is completely the opposite.. and some it is just something they simply have not tried or even thought about And whatever category you or I or anyone falls into then that is the norm for that individual.. I didn't mean it was normal or natural for all women..

I think its each to there own, i do not think there is anything wrong with is at all, alot of people dabble to find out there sexuality. I did it because i was young, having a laugh and it never swayed me, still like my man haha!!

I'm not saying it's unnatural or anything like that - it really doesn't bother me one way or the other. Just saying that it isn't necessarily abnormal for somebody to not want to even try it.

Caryll wrote:Tara wrote:Same here. And 'dabble' implies that it's just a couple of experiences and has absolutely no bearing on your sexuality, so it's nothing for anyone to be insecure about either way. But everyone's different
In no way am I insecure! What you've said there implies that I'm lying when I say I haven't tried it! I just don't see what's so weird about not fancying the same sex!
Each to their own - it doesn't bother me in any way what others do - I do get the ump, though, when people tell me what they think I should be doing.
Sorry Caryll, what I meant was that for anyone who has, it's nothing for them to be insecure about it having any effect on their sexuality, not that you're insecure for not being interested in it. Didn't mean to offend at all.

Well dabbling doesn't have to have anything to do with fancying your own sex, you can be as straight as they come and still do it which looking at this thread some have done.
I don't think anyone meant to offend you

I'm not offended!
All I'm saying is that it's just as normal & natural to not want to dabble as it is to want to.
Honestly, I'm not on the least offended - just a bit peeved that so many people seem to think that it's more normal to than not to. It isn't. Everybody's different.

To be fair, I felt like Caryll - a bit miffed to be told (and "jokingly" doesn't always come across in emails or posts) that we were a bit weird not to have dabbled with our own sex. Personally I'd rather stick pins in my eye ...

Re: Controversial Polls 15: Have you ever had a same-sex experience?
Steve, it's a controversial poll. What do you want people to do? Agree with the majority for the sake of it, or to enter into the controversy?
I couldn't give a brass monkey's balls what anybody else does, but I wanted to put my point across! What's wrong with that?

No me neither. If you're not that way inclined, you're not that way inclined - this day and age has nothing to do with it.

it does lynda it has a lot to do with it.
Alot of lasses will have dabbled who are as straight as you and Caryll, they do not what so ever fancy their own sex. People now go out drinking more and doing stupid things like dabbling as it is excepted and of the norm. Now i know when my mum when little people would have been horrified for people to openly do anything with their own sex whether they are * or straight.
So yes it has an awful lot to do with the times we live in.

Can't help disagreeing with you Ella, about the times we live in now and what they were like when dinosaurs like me and Caryll were young and hormonal.
Can't speak for Caryll here obviously, but personally I grew up in the '60s and they were wild times - a lot of it a kneejerk teenage rebellion against the very staid '50s. A lot of us got very drunk, a lot of us explored our sexuality.
I just can't understand your comment that "they do not what so ever fancy their own sex. People now go out drinking more and doing stupid things like dabbling as it is excepted and of the norm." If you don't fancy your own sex why on earth "dabble", however drunk you are? And why would it be "expected and of the norm?"
I'm not being aggressive here, please understand, just curious!

This exactly what you seem to not be able to understand, believe you me you can be drunk enough to do ANYTHING.
My OH for example got snogged by a very * dude he works with and my OH is as straight as it comes so yes it can happen and yes they were both very very drunk.
Times are very different as i've spoke to many older people and they cannot believe what some younger people get up to these days

Re: Controversial Polls 15: Have you ever had a same-sex experience?
I think a lot, but not all, is to do with society and the era. I mean, if something in general is very much frowned upon, and everyone around you tells you it's bad, you're less likely to feel inclined to do it. Not everyone though, and a lot of people won't have any desire to do it regardless of if it's acceptable or not. Just one of those things.

exactly, as tara said alot of things that used to be massively frowned upon including this are now just a very common thing to happen.

Believe me, today is a poor comparison to the 60s - in the 60s anything went!

Re: Controversial Polls 15: Have you ever had a same-sex experience?
Yes, society has changed a lot in 20 years, it generally does. When I was a teenager in the '60s it was VERY different from the society in '40s. And as Caryll says, in the '60s anything went, and did. But unless forced to, no-one did anything sexually they basically didn't want to do.
And I'm very sorry to say that being out of your head drunk is not a modern phenonema - yes it's easier now with relaxed licensing laws but was still very very possible way back - well, whenever really.
I can remember when male homosexuality was illegal - yes they'd get locked up like kids being locked up into a sweetshop! Thank heavens those days have passed, but I notice that not one single vote has been cast for "I'm a guy and have dabbled".
Why is the pressure now for female homosexuality to be "accepted and the norm"? Were we all repressed in those dark ages, or is it the result of porn and the puzzling fascination that some men have for female on female?

I don't think it's anything like that (for the most part). I think women are just less insecure or rigid than men, in general. Masculinity is perceived in a very strict, stereotypical way a lot of the time.

I didn't say things didn't happen years back of course they did but as less things are frowned upon people wants the 'look at me' thing that come with doing things like this.
There is no pressure on doing anything in reality, but when you consider there are more girls have kids younger and younger is it any wonder that so many have dabbled, when in reality dabbling is very tame compared to what alot of people do.

Oh also i forgot men and women are very very different.
Women in general tend to be alot more confident and comfortable in their sexuality then men, whether they be straight and dabbled for fun or when drunk, or whether they are just g@y whatever.
Men tend to have a persona to live up to

I think females can get closer than males, cause they try to be "hard" lol
Which is strange as in older times having a male "companion" was very common for the elite, ladies were only for babies and men were for company and sex.

Re: Controversial Polls 15: Have you ever had a same-sex experience?
lets just say, hypertheticly speaking of course, that on a wild holiday in an extremely mental place to celebrate your 21st birthday with a load of mates that think they're funny, you happen to be noshed off by a very attractive young lady. You think you're awesomeness and charm attracted her to you when in fact your mates paid for it, and after the act she grins and grasps her crotch to reveal the outline of a generously sized cough/penis\cough and smiles at you with an enourmous look of achievement on her/his face and you were compleely unaware of what lurked beneath the perfect smile, shiny teeth and what look like a pair of perfectly proportioned breasts. Would this count as having a dabble because the guy didn't know?
