Hi
My name is Rob and I am the very proud guardian of a 7 yr old (almost) staffie/Labrador cross called Rudie. As a lab sized staff weighing 37 kilos he's a handful at times but, like so many others, he is just a soft soppy people pleaser despite his big tough bully looks.
Thanks to the dogstrust we found each other nearly 3 yrs ago and I can honestly say they have been 3 fabulous years.
Poor old rude didn't have the best start and he was on his 2nd spell at dt when i saw him hiding in his bed pretending not to be there.
According to dt his last guardians, who had him from just under a year till nearly 3, couldn't cope with him destroying their rented house, pulling terribly, not being able to Leave him and not being able to walk him off lead.
While he's still very unreliable off lead he has never destroyed anything that wasn't his and he's ok to be left for 3-4 hrs. In all he is a credit to the breed and a delight to share my home with.
We just keep working together on the things we need to improve and he now walks nicely on lead etc., last week we managed to pass a field of sheep with just a brief pause to sniff and stare - not something we could have done a year ago even.
Will post some photos of the rude dude soon as I work out how

Re: Hi
Hi from me and ebony! What a lovely story ebony is also a rescue dog, people have said she looks like a lab cross even though she's registered as full staff at the vets so I'm looking forward to seeing your furry friend Rudie!

Re: Hi
Wow am overwhelmed with all the welcomes!
Should have known that there would be a lot of love on a SBT forum!
Here is Rudie
in FAT HEAD pose
acting tough
relaxing
I know I am biased believing he is the best looking dog ever but he did come second in Shoreham Dogs Trust's Fun Dog Show last year - Most Hansom Dog last year standing under me IN THE RAIN!
