Crappy walk :(
For me anyway. First of all im walking down my street and theres a little kid stood in the middle of the pavement staring at alfie and me. As we get closer his mum sees me, looks at alfie and literally screams across the street to him DONT MOVE! Just as alfie is walking past him. I mean look at Alfie! Hes hardly a beast is he. Anyway we got to the park and i decided to use his training lead, so there i am swapping his flexi lead for his training lead, bags going everywhere, lead going everywhere and what does he decide to do? A massive poo. Now trying to keep hold of a training lead whilst its tangled, holding all my bags, and trying to open a poo bag with gloves on is very difficult. After that alfie then proceeded to bite me the whole time in the field! Didnt listen to me when i said no or anything (few new bruises). I then decide to throw the ball further than his training lead reaches so out shoots the lead from my hand and there i am running around the park like a mad woman trying to catch it (i hope no one saw me) anway, were on our way home and im feeling pretty deflated but there i am talking to alfie in my baby voice and cooing over him for about 10 mins only to turn around and find a guy behind me laughing to himself at me. CRINGE! Worst walk ever

Re: Crappy walk :(
Sounds a stressful one. I had a crap walk too tbh.
I wouldn't worry about him being overly excited, he's just getting used to his new lead etc, but don't be afraid to correct him.
I really wouldn't worry about someone laughing, I chat to Logan the whole time on walks. Even sing the odd wee song too

Well at least he didn't run away in the fields, that's a positive thing right? Instead of looking at the negative things look at positive things .
Our poo bags always fly away and we have to run around the fields trying to catch it

Re: Crappy walk :(
Does he not just get distracted playing fetch? My boy hardly pays any attention to me if he's got his ball lol he just plays and plays.
Maybe some treats or something would distract him, just get one out when he's being naughty and say no, he should look at the treat and stop what he's doing, throw the ball wait for him to come back and give him the treat.

Aw hang in there Ellie, we all have bad walk days! As for the voice, don't remember a time when I didn't use the high pitch puppy voice - it grates me on videos

Re: Crappy walk :(
I had a crap walk too. Lily has a cannie collar and not overstruck at all and take every oportunity to let me know about it. Today she decided to have a snarl at another dog in front that was limping quite badly, who actually snarled back - I felt awful. The owner said she was bitten by a rottie yesterday and she was taking her to a vet and she actually apologised to me as her girl wasn't feeling very sociable. I felt so embarrassed. But | had a nice walk yesterday and they are the days that make me feel good and I try to remember those. Sometimes its two steps forward and one back but I keep thinking I will get there in the end. Alfie is still still young yet and he will learn

Re: Crappy walk :(
We all have them Keep going, do you use treats? I do find tho if at times Honey runs off which isn't often more with a certain person lol and he runs after her she ends up thinking its a game. I keep telling him but he thinks he knows best all tho he has never ever owned a dog only looked after one for a short time once a year years ago!!!!!!!
I bet that guy would do exactly the same if he had a dog. I love it when I hear people like me talking to their doggies exactly the same.

Re: Crappy walk :(
Oh dear I am also up early and straight out with Vinnie. Do you keep treats on you? Vinnie responds very well with his and when he walks on the lead I just now and again quietly say "He is a good boy" and have a treat in my hand, which he now knows, and he is now heeling lovely and looking up at me all the time. I know you love him dearly Ellie, but I think you do need to be a little firmer.

I dont no, thats a good idea actually. Sometimes hes good as gold but he had the devil in him last night. Its really difficult when we are outside because when hes in one of them moods no matter how many times i say "no" or ignore him or walk off he doesnt listen at all. Hes getting a bit better at home its just when we are out
