Mat, I know what you mean!
Steve, you wouldn't catch me going to anywhere I'm likely to be shot, blown up or kidnapped in!

Def not ignorant and you have no need to apologise!
It's a confusing country. Beautiful but ruined by idiots.

Re: Going to dodgy countries
If money was no object I'd try and visit every single country on earth.
I think it'd be an amazing experience.
Of course there are places that are best avoided but a lot of the time I think it's a lack of understanding of other places and cultures that makes people a bit unsure.
Outwith the obvious trouble spots, I'd love to visit the Middle East. Jordan and Lebanon for example. And when the trouble dies down Syria and Iraq. The history of some of these places is absolutely incredible.

Re: Going to dodgy countries
Some of the dodgy countries are actually really nice. I was in Thailand when there was an uprising and hardly noticed. Malaysia and the Phillipines also get a bad rep but they are both amazing places.
Jordan is great as well but Iraq is no fun at all.

It's certainlt beautiful - what a shame that the political/religious regimes can't just enjoy it.

Re: Going to dodgy countries
Depends what they go for, I suppose, some people go to try to help people. But...eh, I'd prefer helping people in this country where I might not get killed in the process. Shame though, because if you take away all of the things that make people reluctant to go, I bet you'd find some beautiful places in those countries.

I was in Yemen just when their little war started. We Ha a briefing and then armed guard convoy but the people were really nice and everyone smiled at us and the kids wanted their pictures taken so they could see their faces on the camera screen. I really enjoyed it! If you can go there and be safe then why not, it's an experience.

But you have awesone bike racing, on the roads, not like the pussies over here that need bubble wrap around the track and bikes, and you can buy Tayto's to munch on while your watching, wash down with a Guiness and you're soon the envy of every miserable bloke in Blighty.

Just to clarify for those that don't know what "taytos" are, they're the Chuck Norris of crisps, and not to be confused with "po-taytos".

I've had genuine Taytos in ready salted flavour in a proper pub in Westport whilst drinking Guinness a good combination The guinness tasted like drinking a pint of froth so went down very well , in large amounts

We're limted to where we can get them here, my bro has regular trips to ireland and fetches me a box of goodies back, mostly Tayto and kimberly biscuits, the last trip he brough me 4 bottles of Club orange, when he comes home from his current trip there shall be many more bottles of orange, I can't be doing with ordering online and as my bro gos over frequently I know I don't have to wait long for it anyway, as long as he doesn't get shot that is. Some Tescos over here have started doing the items I like and more in the world food section, just not the Tesco's near me.

I'll ask if he has room to fetch me some if he contacts me before he leaves, sounds awesome. We could probably get it if we travelled down south but I haven't found any near me.

Re: Going to dodgy countries
quick cash mate. i did two years in kuwait building IT after the war and was guarded. id love to say it was a brease but tbh honest i had clenched buttocks 24/7. its the first time i felt like "prey" and wasnt happy with it but its a job and id rather do that than sponge off the state complaining about benifit cuts.
its prob reason i dont have time for wishy washy tards complaining this that and other in this country. even more the troops are soo amazing its unreal and not even 5% is reported here about the good they do.
