Post by Guest Sat Mar 09 2013, 21:46

Ive just been talking to my mum about Alfie (as per lol) and was telling her I nearly got another Staff before him. She was a bitch, Roxy, and was chatting to the owner at the time, telling her i was interested etc. But once i said i definitely wanted her, she had already been rehomed. At the time i was absolutely gutted, but now, I know that I was always meant to find my Alfie, and in his one year on this earth he was meant to find me. It was always meant to be Smile

Following on from the comment " dog landed on it's feet ". Who benefits most, the dog or the owner ? Since getting Bacchus in September I've met so many other lovely doggy people, I've lost a stone in weight and feeling much fitter through exercising him, have met all you great people on this forum and best of all........I have an adorable little dog who gives so much kisses, cuddles and unconditional love. Let's say both Big Grin Loki's done loads for me, I've also lost some weight, I'm out of the house every day now, I talk to people I don't know (which used to be impossible for me), etc. But I look at Loki and I can tell he's very happy with his life too, so I think it's a case of the person and the dog helping each other have better lives.

I wanted 3 other dogs before I got ebony! Since I work with the rescue staffies I get quite attached as I train them and things but my mom said I wasn't allowed them! I even handed them over to their new owners which broke my heart - mom always said when I find the right dog and it's meant to be that's when I'll get a dog (I've wanted one ALL my life!) ... Then a VERY naughty brother and sister came in who were incredibly sticky and had no manners; they shredded beds and were a nightmare! I never thought I'd end up with one of them Laughing it's strange, but amazing how things work out Smile

I only went to Dogs Trust as I had been working in Shrewsbury for the day and we finished early. Ledger wasn't even out to view, we were matched off the questionnaire you fill out. It was love at first sight nearly 2 years on I'm 3 stone lighter and we have both found our soul mate

So many sweet "was ment to be's!!" Love Struck My old Collie dog had just come through a battle with cancer, I'd come so close to losing him that we decided to get a new pup to bring new life into the house (and I did need a new dog for work). My partner led the search, He found a litter of 8 Staffy pups, totally bonkers and very demanding except 1. One sat and watched everything, curious and inquisitive. There was what I was looking for, then the breeder called him Flynn..... The same name as my old Collie, So little Flynn came home and became Rolo. And he brought new life in to Old Flynn.

Many good things come from chance encounters. When I was 17 I made an unannounced visit to my married sister. She was out but this beautiful young girl was babysitting. We hit it off straight away and 49 years later we are still together.
With Bacchus, I knew I wanted a red staffy. There aren't a lot of staffy breeders around here but by chance I found one 10 mins away and phoned her and one of her bitches had just had a litter. 5 weeks later we went to view them and fell in love with this gorgeous little pied boy who has now taken over our lives.

I think I know exactly what you mean Ellie. My hubby and me had been to Woodgreen on several occasions before we saw Rocky there and could have easily come home with many other dogs. Somehow though we never did. Maybe Rocky was the one for us too.
