my agility stars
Roxy started agility two months ago and has really taken to it! She's like a graceful (seriously!) flying body of awesomeness. Even the trainer is very impressed.
Vinny starts obedience 101 on Saturday and after that he can go into agility - I'll wait and see though, maybe wait until he is more grown from a bones perspective.
We did buy a hurdle for them to play with at home and we place the pole on the floor for Vinny. He watches his sister and then goes "flying" over the floor-level pole - it's very cute! The best is when they're just playing and they run over it at the same time!

Re: my agility stars
That sounds fantastic!
I'd love to try it sometime. You'll have to get us some good pictures of how you get on

Would you believe I tried to take pics during the last class. Set the shutter speed high but miss Roxy is so quick they didn't come out very well (Nothing to do with photographer of course!)
Will keep trying, or set up a tripod at home an do an "agility shoot!"

Re: my agility stars
Sounds brilliant but think for Vinny it's advised to wait until they're older, as you already mentioned. Nothing to stop him practicing on the little things though agility looks like loads of fun for them anyway. You'll have to practice taking pictures so we can see

Re: my agility stars
The trainer that runs our class spent some one on one time with Marley one day and she really wants us to get her into agility. We want to do it too. What age or obedience level wouldn't you recomend for starting agility? We graduated from socialization Last week and start obedience tomorrow.

The consensus seems to be to wait until they're fully grown. Roxy is 13 months, so after obedience I put her into "dog tivities" where they learnt more obedience, tricks and had fun doing little different activities to get them thinking. Our trainer says Vinny can go into agility straight after obedience, but he'll only be about 7 months then, so I'm not too sure yet. The agility trainer is really good though and will suggest putting poles etc on the floor so he doesn't do any jumps and will stay away from seesaws and A-frames etc. So I guess it depends on the responsibility of the owner and trainer?
Enjoy obedience with Marley!!

Re: my agility stars
What a pity Dave! Would you have space for a piece of equipment at home for them to mess around with?
Roxy is the funniest: our agility trainer encourages us to bring along the one thing that really motivates our pups to get them using the equipment. For Roxy that's a ....broom head!!! People think it's hilarious, but since she was tiny she used to love chasing the broom, so it has become her most valued object.
We, or rather the motivation of getting to play with the broom head; get her into a really strong stay and then run with the broom past the hurdles as she glides over them and gets a good ol' tug at the end.
The trainer told us this morning that he has been telling everyone of his star pupil - not only because she has taken to agility so brilliantly but because her driving force, the broom head
