Bacchus off colour Empty Bacchus off colour

Post by reuben Mon Feb 25 2013, 11:28

Came down this morning at 7 am and Bacchus had pooed in his crate. It was quite a soft movement but not diahrroea. My wife had him out around 11 pm last night and says he pooed then.He is nearly 8 months and hasn't done this since he was tiny and had a tummy upset. I wasn't overly concerned, just cleaned up without a fuss, assuming he was just caught short. He was bright enough on his walk and ate his breakfast, but threw it all up 5 mins later. The vomit contained a wad of grass which he must have eaten last night as he was on lead this am. and didn't eat it then.
He hasn't come out of his crate since I came back from work at 9.30 but he can be quite lazy at times so this doesn't particularly concern me. I haven't taken him for his usual 1 hour walk as he doesn't seem too keen plus I don't want to risk him passing something on to his pals if he has a bug.
Should I fast him today or give him some chicken and rice this evening??
Obviously if he isn't any better by tomorrow, or gets worse, I'll pop him down to the vet but just wondered what to do in the interim.

When Logan is sick which happens from time to time I always stick to boring foods, like chicken and rice for a while. And cut it down to a small meal.

Poor Bacchus, hope ya feel better soon!

I would switch to something a little easier on his stomach and just let him rest. Shorten the walks up a bit unless he is insistant and let him rest.

Sounds like it may well have been the grass that made him sick, poor lad. Do you have any plain natural yogurt (just a couple of teaspoons should do the trick) or maybe a ginger chew, this is great for upset tummys too.

He didn't emerge from his crate until 1.30 this afternoon. 4 pm. he walked to The Co-op with me for some chicken breast which he has had for tea. He has brightened up now and sitting on the sofa helping me with "The Chase"

Glad hes feeling better and all is looking up. Sounds to me like you did exact right thing. Puppy tums are delicate things which can be upset by weirdest of things. One moment they can be enjoying your remote control batteries and all with no ill effect and then they eat a crisp and there body goes into full bowl evacuation mode.
