Sad No lead free time for a week

Post by stig Sat Feb 16 2013, 02:17

Took Stig into the woods a few days ago with a couple of mates and their 2 dogs, a Staff and a pitbull type, they run into some overgrowth and the other 2 dogs re-appear, I see Stig is a little stuck and go to help him and he yelps and gets out. Checked him over and couldn't see anything so assumed he'd just caught something on the way out and was ok. Groomed his coat yesterday and felt something in his fur then noticed a bit off puss and a small puncture wound, took him to vets today to discover it wasn't a small puncture but this nasty little wound hidden under a flap of skin, I only hope he hasn't ben in pain for the last few days as their was no indication of him being so. Been told to keep him on lead so he doesn't roll in the mud with it, sucks but gives me an excuse to work on his lead manners a little longer than normal. Will it scar and stay bald or will his fur grow back there once healed?

Ouch! Looks nasty. Something like this happened to my parents dobermann, she had to have surgery though Sad her fur has mostly grown back but there is a faint scar. Good luck with the lead work Smile

Thanks guys Smile seems to be drying out and healing quite quick now the vets cut the flap of skin off, couldn't get him to take the antibiotic even in his food, luckily he's a sucker for mature cheddar so I just squeeze it into a ball with the tablet inside dont tell anyone

I'm sure it will heal over and be fine then his hair will grow back. He may have a small scar only time will tell. Just dab a little Sudocream on it to keep it clean, this will also help with the healing process.
