Doing my bit!

Well today I thought I would do my bit and signed up as a volunteer to Leicester SBT rescue!! Will be fostering staffies in need of a home for a bit untill they find somewhere perminant!! Now just got to remember they will be leaving at some point!!

i would love to do that but i would end up with a house full of staffy

That's the first thing my mrs said when I told her(after I signed up,whoops) that I will just want to keep them!!

That is amazing I would love to do that but just haven't the time for the attention they need, nor a garden. Massive respect to you and I look forward to hearing some stories!! Any ideas when the first will be??

Don't know janey,it kind of happened by mistake,I know someone who knows one of the women there and he told me about an 8 week old male that my friends would be interested in,turns out hey have decided thier house is to small with the boxer they Already have! But then I got given the number and wasn't happy untill I had rang to let them know the puppy was a no go,and that I would like to help out! The lady said she will ring when she has a dog friendly child friendly staff!

That's Fantastic. I'm betting that within 6 months of fostering, you'll have a new permanent canine family member. Well done you, I'd do the same if my hubby would let me!

My Husband would kill me if hecame home from work and found another staffy here and I announced that we were fostering it til it found a permanent home! Of course, if it was an emergency, i'd go ahead and do it anyway. Hmmmm, maybe I should think about fostering.....

Are you kidding? With the amount of unwanted staffs out there, you'll have a call within a week!

well done steve, I could not do that I would end up with loads,of dogs living with me, someone has to do it so good on yer

well done mate! Its so rewarding! I used to foster as well but with 2 dogs now and the kids in a 2 bed house space is a little tight lol. I still do the dog walking for the kenneled dogs though! It can be hard work im not gonna lie, some of the dogs have either been abused by past owners or just totally trumatised by kennel life and can take a long time to settle and behave lol. My advice to u would be to treat them exactly as u do your own and try not to give them extra love as 1. u could get jealousy from your own and 2. u want them to settle into your routine as quickly as possible. You'll need lots of patience, trust me lol. Good luck and let us all no what happens x

That's a great thing your doing... I couldn't do it... i wouldn't want to give them back.. therefor i'd have a full house in no time.

may have one on the way!!!!!! not through the rescue though!! a bloke at work knows that i signed up and his step daughter has a staff but the land lord is not happy!! obviously i will put him on the rescue site if i get him but is funny that the first dog i might foster is one from someone i know,well....some one that knows someone i know!

And There was you thinking it would be ages before you got one in!

Just be cautious Steve as its not coming from rescue will it have had a temperment test and be okay with your boy
