laugh or cry?
My oh just came home after a walk with Bailey- fuming, he had Bailey on lead, with his collar, saying friendly. He came round a corner, when a wee Jack Russell type dog, off lead, came running up to Bailey.
Bailey was a perfect gentleman, and stopped to let other dog have a sniff, at this point the owner came round the corner, saw Bailey and SCREAMED at her dog to get away! My oh said it’s ok he’s friendly, hence the collar.
The woman said (after grabbing her dog) "oh it’s just I have a "thing" about bit bulls"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My oh says well that’s ok, he’s not a pit bull (mumbling, what a stupid &$%$) she says, oh, its just that type of dog then, to which my oh replies, I don’t want to be rude but its ignorance like that, that give the Staffordshire bull terrier a bad name, also my dog is on lead, he has a collar saying he is friendly and I have told you he is friendly and your still holding on to your dog which came running up to mine!
She went off with a red face (STILL holding her dog)
I’m proud of both of my boys

Re: laugh or cry?
Oh my goodness grief. I hope to always have one of my little ones with me walking my hopefully friendly pup. I can't stand ignorance like that. I have always fussed over even the pitbulls. LOL. The only dog I'm petrified of is a Rotty and that's cause I was attacked by one when I was a small child.

Re: laugh or cry?
ive just had a similar thing with my new neighbour....
i was carrying buck from the car to the house and passed her as she came out of her front door.
she was all "ohhhh hes adorable!!" and started stroking and making fuss of him
then asked "what is he?"
so i told her he was a staff and she instantly withdrew her hand and said "oh i dont like them. im terrified of them" (evidently not since you just mauled mine with your hand)
*sigh*
i somehow managed to power through the sheer disbelief and exasperation and asked her why she was scared of them (expecting to hear that, as a child, she'd been attacked by a pack of wild staffs with machine guns mounted on them) and she just said "i dunno... its just their faces and you hear sall those stories"
(is changing from adorable to scary at the speed of light part of the breed standard or is my dog rare and therefore worth 8 million quid?)
i really didnt know what to say
i made attempts to assure her that they werent anything like the press make them out to be and that theyre really lovely dogs
she wasnt convinced
needless to say i terminated the conversation rather rapidly.
im really not a fan of humans

Re: laugh or cry?
I try to take the good comments-there are quite a few, and ignore the down right stupid comments. You have to pity ignorance.
