A heaven sent gift
Cassie came into our lives purely by chance and life has got better and better since.
It got me thinking what if anything has changed for people since getting their furbaby.
Cassie brought with her so much comfort and company and brings out the best in all in the house, when anyone is ill she is there with staffy hugs, she has the politest way of saying "your fat it's time for exercise come on i will take you". when there is trouble in the air she is referee and peace maker, she is so loving it's amazing and she has changed me into a soppy wet lettuce.
How have your pets changed you? what do they bring into your lives?

Re: A heaven sent gift
That's hard to say, because apart from a few years gap between Bandit dying and getting Dempsey, I've had a dog in my life since I was 14 years old.
I've never felt that my life was totally complete without a dog.

Re: A heaven sent gift
Past five or so years I've had really bad eczema, ended up messing with my life. Don't have any friends, couldn't go out anywhere, ended up with social anxiety and depression. A couple of weeks before we got Loki I'd hit rock bottom basically, I'd just given up on trying to get better. When I got Loki, I had to feed him, train him, walk him, etc. I loved him the moment I got him but he's given me a reason to actually get out of bed everyday and get out of the house. Used to go weeks or months without leaving the house, and now I'm out everyday more or less. So he's literally given me my life back. Which is why I'll always love him no matter how mean he is to me

Re: A heaven sent gift
Since I had a car accident a few years ago I have suffered with severe back pain and depression caused by this. Rocky came into my life 2 years ago and has turned it upside down, in a very good way.
I am now hoping to return to work doing something completely different (I am hoping the jobcentre can help me with some training first though) I hope to train as a dog behaviourist but if I cannot do that then something within the environment and to do with nature someway would be great. I have always had a very keen interest in nature and animals.
I would not have had the courage to even consider doing this if Rocky had not been here with me. My husband is disabled too and suffers with depression and Rocky has made a considerable difference to his life too.

well done loki!!! it takes alot to come out of this so you must be proud and proud of your self
i have always found a 'friend' in animals i have had since i was a child due to bad childhood and i was bullied but
tyke didnt come and make a big impact as in change my life when we first got him but when our son was 2 year me and my OH broke up for a few month and its was tyke who was there and kept me company and made me feel safe in our home as the house i rented was in the worse area possible, but i found it hard to deal with the weekends when ryan went to his dads as my life revolved around ryan and my OH, his dad. But tyke was there.
off course we have sorted things and we are in our own home etc now but tyke is such a big part of our life and my son adores him

Re: A heaven sent gift
We gave up a lot to get our dogs as it makes you much more tied and especially since they are a pair of soppy little buggers for kenneling etc . When we decided to get a second we knew we were doubling the associated problems as above. But hey so what , I wouldn't be without them for all the love in the world, after a bad long week they give me the smile back on my face , they are the best companions ever and they just make the house feel like a home

I also suffer with Clinical Depression and sometimes have no energy to get out of bed in the mornings! Since having my boy Vinnie It makes me have to get up and walk him which on dark cold mornings is hard I feel so much better when we have been out. I find walking a very good help for me and of course its great routine! I love him so much and as not being able to have my own babies, He is very much a mums boy, who looks to me for guidance, walks, feed times and of course big hugs and kisses. So Thank You Scrumptious Vinnie for being in my life!!

Re: A heaven sent gift
Maggie came into our lives nearly 10 months ago (where does the time go) and it has been the best 10 months ever As you maybe aware OH is in the RAF and last Sept he went away to Afghan for the first time, it was really hard, but like many of you, Maggie gave me something to focus on and something else to think about other then whats the OH upto right now.
When he walked out of the door the night he left I had a bit of a mini break down and sobbed on the stairs, Maggie was straight there with kisses and hugs and made sure I was ok and not in her usual bouncy way it helped me out no end. I sorted myself out had a word and took her out for a walk Its also so nice to come home to her when OH's away or on nights instead of coming home to an empty house. She is my world and I couldn't imagine it without her

Re: A heaven sent gift
Great post I am like Caryll and always had a dog since being a little girl , but since our Taz died I am without one for the first time ever. The house seems terribly quiet and because I work from home , I notice it the most , I do miss him terribly , he was amazing . When we had him the hubby and I would do a lot more exercise and put the works to rights in our walks talk about what we will do when we will win the lottery and brag or moan about the kids . My son has lost his playmate and someone to moan to when he has to go to bed or do his honework ... A dog never judges you and will forgive you if you are in a bad mood . I could never be without one and i am looking forward to doing it all again

Great post Dave!
I'll not go into too much detail, but at a time things went really bad for me and I have had bother dealing with it from time to time.
Like a lot of Staffords, I don't socialise well with other males so I don't really enjoy doing the usual young lad thing of bars/sports etc. I live on my own which I love (about from the neighbourhood kids!) but it is great to know I have Logan there if anything ever went wrong.
I have also found that Stafford owners tend to either be the worst or best people you could meet and if you concentrate on the good ones you will meet some genuine decent people.
Logan gave me a sense of purpose.
